Who We Are
Singapore Pools was established by the Singapore government on 23 May 1968 to provide safe and trusted betting to counter illegal gambling. As a not-for-profit organisation, it makes contributions to the Tote Board to fund a wide range of causes in social service, community development, sports, arts, education and health sectors.
Since 2004, over $5 billion have been channelled to the Tote Board. In addition, Singapore Pools also contributes about $2 billion annually to the Government in the form of taxes and duties. Its responsible gaming practices have been awarded the highest level of certification (Level 4) by the World Lottery Association's Responsible Gaming Framework since 2012.
Since inception, Singapore Pools staff have a long-standing commitment to doing good and giving back to those in need. Staff volunteers support activities held all year round, from helping disadvantaged children, youth-at-risk, underprivileged families, and elderly, to conserving the environment.
Job Purpose
The Senior Engineer is responsible for leading the design, development, testing, deployment, support and continuous improvement of technology solutions within assigned systems, services, applications or platforms.
The role ensures engineering deliverables meet agreed business requirements, quality standards, security controls, operational supportability expectations, governance requirements and regulatory obligations.
What You'll Do
- Lead the engineering, development, configuration, testing, deployment and support of technology solutions in accordance with approved requirements, architecture standards and engineering best practices.
- Provide technical leadership during system integration testing, user acceptance testing, release readiness activities and production implementation.
- Investigate complex defects, incidents and technical issues, perform root cause analysis and drive remediation activities.
- Collaborate with business, technology, architecture, cybersecurity, infrastructure, testing, operations and vendor stakeholders to manage technical dependencies and delivery outcomes.
- Review solution designs, code changes, test coverage, deployment readiness and defect remediation activities to ensure adherence to engineering standards and security requirements.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, deployment procedures, support documentation and operational run books.
- Provide timely updates on technical delivery progress, risks, issues, dependencies and mitigation plans.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives relating to maintainability, resilience, performance, supportability and engineering quality.
- Independently deliver complex engineering tasks, enhancements and technical initiatives.
- Support technical analysis, troubleshooting and defect resolution activities.
- Guide junior engineers on engineering practices, troubleshooting approaches and delivery standards.
- Contribute to engineering quality improvements and operational supportability initiatives.
- Coordinate technical activities across assigned work areas and vendors where required.
Who You Are
- Degree-qualified in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Science or IT related discipline, with minimum 5 years of hands-on software engineering experience in developing and supporting enterprise, retail or customer interaction solutions across platforms, including experience guiding junior engineers or supporting technical delivery workstreams.
- Strong understanding of SDLC and Agile delivery practices, with ability to apply engineering discipline across solution design, build, testing, deployment and production support activities.
- Strong hands-on experience in developing, enhancing and maintaining client-server applications (Web, Windows), REST APIs, WPF, mobile applications and Content Management Systems (CMS), such as Drupal.
- Proficient and strong hands-on experience in relevant technologies such as such as .NET Framework, C++, C#, ASP.NET MVC, ASP.NET WEB API, MVVM, Entity Framework, LINQ, Java, JavaScript.
- Strong knowledge and experience in relational databases such as MS SQL and Oracle.
- Knowledge of Power Platform, Power Apps, Power Automate.
- Knowledge of Enterprise applications such as CRM application, Contact Center application or Content Management system.
- Ability to define, review and execute unit, integration and system test plans and test cases to validate technical and functional outcomes.
- Knowledge of testing methodologies, engineering standards and automated testing tools is an advantage.
- Experience in DevOps is a plus.
- Strong experience in production support, incident troubleshooting, root cause analysis and technical problem resolution.
- Proficient with source control tools such as Git, SVN, TFS or equivalent platforms.
- Able to communicate technical options, risks, constraints and recommendations effectively in verbal and written formats with internal and external stakeholders.
- Able to work independently with minimal supervision while coordinating technical work across cross-functional teams and vendors.
- Good team player with a continuous learning mindset and ability to guide others in deepening technical capability.
