Strategy

  • Determine and approve locations for regulatory, warning, and guide signs in line with legislation and technical standards, coordinating placements with concerned entities.
  • Review and approve street names and house numbers through design and implementation stages to preserve addressing-system integrity and traceability across projects.
  • Develop and maintain specifications and standards for traffic signs, guide signs, and road markings to support safe multimodal movement and consistent wayfinding.
  • Prepare and implement the general and detailed plan for the comprehensive addressing system at emirate level in coordination with the Roads Department.
  • Provide technical support on external advertising within the right-of-way in accordance with Dubai advertising regulations and concession obligations.
  • Establish basic project plans, schedules, and performance indicators for signage and addressing workstreams; report status and improvement actions to relevant teams.

Operations

  • Review traffic impact study outputs and engineering plans for RTA and private projects—including cycle routes, flexible-mobility areas, and maintenance programs—to enforce signage and marking standards.
  • Review and approve designs and plans for signs, guide signs, and markings; conduct field visits to verify compliance with approved specifications, procedures, and technical guidelines.
  • Review final execution (as-built) drawings for implemented signs, guide signs, and markings; confirm conformity with approved plans and close out records.
  • Study and review traffic diversions and no-objection certificates for signage and markings; evaluate temporary layouts and verify on-site application during major diversions.
  • Inspect regulatory and guide signs and related permits for compliance; direct remedial works and monitor supplementary directional sign permits through electronic systems.
  • Develop engineering and material specifications; provide implementation-phase approvals; supervise and audit work quality, including house/street numbering details against the Traffic Control Devices Manual.
  • Coordinate with regulatory units in normal and emergency situations; prepare technical reports, correspondence, and official responses to support timely decisions and compliance.
  • Participate in qualifying and evaluating consultants and contractors for signage works; monitor performance and corrective actions.

Product/Process Improvement

  • Update the Traffic Control Devices Guide and addressing guidance; coordinate with developers and external entities and supervise disciplined rollout.
  • Standardise workflows, checklists, approval matrices, KPIs, dashboards, and responses to internal-audit findings to strengthen compliance and shorten cycle times.
  • Employ BIM, GIS, and digital infrastructure modelling to maintain inventories, validate designs, and support site-compliance oversight integrated with e-permit systems.
  • Promote sustainable-mobility outcomes through signage and addressing innovations; participate in committees and follow up decisions to embed policy refinements and pilots.

Physical Working Conditions

  • Conduct regular field/site inspections near live traffic and during major diversions; comply with PPE and occupational-safety protocols, including occasional night or weekend operations.

Qualifications

Job Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree/Master's degree in Civil Engineering or Transportation Engineering or Urban Planning
  • 3+ years in case of Master's degree (4+ years in case of Bachelor's degree) in related field
