Role Description This part-time remote Senior Engineering Consultant role at Serial VC focuses on providing expert technical guidance to early-stage and growth-stage companies in the portfolio. The consultant will assess product architectures, review codebases, and recommend scalable solutions for software development and system integration. Day-to-day responsibilities include collaborating with founders and engineering teams, defining technical roadmaps, and advising on best practices in security, performance, and reliability. The role involves conducting technical due diligence, preparing concise recommendations, and supporting project planning and risk management for critical initiatives. The consultant will also mentor engineering leaders, contribute to technical standards, and help align technology decisions with business objectives.
Qualifications

Strong Consulting experience with the ability to translate complex technical issues into clear, actionable recommendations.
Proficient Analytical Skills for evaluating architectures, diagnosing issues, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
Demonstrated Project Management capabilities, including planning, prioritization, stakeholder communication, and risk management.
Hands-on Software Development expertise, ideally across modern web or cloud technologies, with experience in code review and technical leadership.
Solid Integration skills, including designing and implementing APIs, connecting third-party platforms, and ensuring system interoperability.
Experience working with startups or venture-backed companies and familiarity with scaling engineering organizations.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in distributed, remote teams.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
