JINSHENG (SINGAPORE) MINING PTE. LTD. is incorporated in Singapore and operates in the shipping and logistics sector. Its core business is providing international logistics services for mineral products, transporting minerals from producing countries such as the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) to China through integrated land and sea routes. Our Finance team plays a central role in supporting the business through accurate reporting, robust controls, and commercial insight as we strive to become a premier shipping and logistics service provider.
Role Purpose
The Senior Finance Accountant is responsible for the accurate and timely preparation of financial records, month-end close, statutory reporting, and financial controls within a commercial shipping and logistics environment. The role supports management decision-making through robust reporting and analysis, and drives standardization and continuous improvement across finance processes, while ensuring full compliance with accounting standards and internal policies.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting & Month-End Close
. Own the end-of-month (EOM) and year-end close process, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
. Prepare monthly management accounts (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow) with supporting commentary and variance analysis.
. Prepare and post journals (accruals, prepayments, provisions, depreciation).
. Perform balance sheet reconciliations and resolve reconciling items promptly.
Statutory & Compliance
. Support the preparation of statutory accounts in line with [UK GAAP / FRS 102 / IFRS].
. Coordinate the annual audit, acting as a key point of contact for external auditors and preparing audit schedules.
. Ensure compliance with tax obligations, including GST returns and liaison on corporation tax with advisers/authorities.
. Manage the company's tax filings, ensuring accurate and timely submission.
. Prepare and submit tax incentive applications and supporting documentation.
. Coordinate tax and financial reporting matters with the subsidiary/subsidiaries.
Commercial Finance & Analysis
. Provide financial insight and analysis to support budgeting, forecasting, and business decisions.
. Partner with stakeholders across the business to explain results and support cost control and margin improvement.
. Contribute to the annual budget and periodic reforecasting process.
Process Improvement & Controls
. Develop accounting templates and standardize processes to improve consistency and efficiency.
. Drive continuous process improvement and identify automation opportunities.
. Maintain and strengthen internal controls across financial processes.
. Support and review the work of junior members of the finance team.
Cash & Working Capital
. Support cash flow management, forecasting, and working capital reporting.
. Oversee/review aspects of accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations as required.
Essential Requirements
. ACCA/CPA qualified.
. Minimum 3 years experience as a Senior Accountant within a commercial environment.
. Strong technical knowledge of accounting principles and standards ( SFRS / IFRS]).
. Proven experience of end-of-month (EOM) close, audit coordination, and balance sheet reconciliation.
. Hands-on experience with SAP.
. Intermediate Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, formulas).
. Intermediate Chinese reading and writing skills, sufficient to communicate effectively with Chinese-speaking stakeholders (this role regularly liaises with Chinese-speaking counterparties/suppliers, so working Chinese is required to perform the role).
. Ability to develop accounting templates, standardize processes, and drive continuous process improvement.
. Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
Desirable / Preferred
. Solid understanding of the shipping and logistics industry (highly preferred).
. Experience with additional ERP modules or reporting tools.
. Exposure to statutory audit and consolidation.
. Experience mentoring or supervising junior finance staff.
