Job summary
The Senior Government Liaison Manager will manage relationships with government entities, regulatory authorities, partners, and other key stakeholders in Syria. The role will support regulatory approvals, ensure compliance with local laws and agreements, and advise senior management on government, political, and regulatory matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement government relations strategies in Syria.
- Act as the main contact for ministries, regulatory authorities, and public institutions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with government stakeholders and business partners.
- Represent the company in official meetings, negotiations, and government engagements.
- Manage regulatory approvals, permits, submissions, and official documentation.
- Ensure compliance with Syrian laws, regulations, Production Sharing Agreements, and Shareholder Agreements.
- Monitor regulatory and legislative developments affecting energy operations.
- Identify and report political, regulatory, contractual, and compliance risks.
- Support corporate governance, ethics, and anti-corruption requirements.
- Provide regular updates and strategic advice to senior management.
- Coordinate with internal departments, partners, and authorities to support business and project requirements.
Qualifications and Experience
- Should be a Syrian National
- Bachelor's degree in Law or a related field.
- PMP or an Engineering qualification would be an advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in the energy, oil and gas, or infrastructure sector.
- Previous experience working with Syrian government institutions.
- Strong understanding of the Syrian regulatory environment.
- Knowledge of Production Sharing Agreements, joint ventures, shareholder agreements, and regulatory processes.
- Fluency in Arabic and English.
