Position: Senior HSE Officer

Location: Kuwait - Shuwaikh

Type: Full-time

Job Purpose:

To support the implementation and monitoring of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) management systems across company sites by conducting audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring compliance with company policies, local regulations, and international standards (e.g., ISO 45001). The role focuses on identifying hazards, reporting non-conformities, and supporting corrective actions to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.

Responsibilities:

Risk Assessment & Planning

  • Assist in developing and updating Risk Assessments and Risk Registers for various facilities (Warehouses, Plants, Service Centers, Production Workshops, Showrooms, etc.).
  • Participate in preparing internal audit schedules and audit checklists based on identified risks.
  • Support planning and preparation activities for routine and special HSE audits.

Audit Execution & Monitoring

  • Conduct routine HSE inspections and internal audits under the supervision of the HSE Manager.
  • Monitor compliance with HSE policies, procedures, and applicable legal requirements.
  • Identify unsafe acts, unsafe conditions, and HSE non-conformities during site visits.
  • Document audit findings clearly and accurately, including risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Support investigations related to incidents, near misses, or safety violations.
  • Assist during external audits and certification processes (e.g., ISO audits).

Compliance & Awareness

  • Ensure site-level compliance with local HSE laws, regulations, and company standards.
  • Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions resulting from audits and inspections.
  • Participate in delivering HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions as required.
  • Promote HSE awareness and safe work practices among employees and contractors.

Reporting & Documentation

  • Prepare inspection and audit reports and submit them to the HSE Manager.
  • Maintain accurate HSE records, reports, and evidence in digital or manual systems.
  • Track corrective actions and follow up to ensure timely closure.
  • Contribute to periodic HSE performance reports and dashboards.

Follow-up & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions and escalate delays or issues when needed.
  • Support initiatives aimed at improving overall HSE performance.
  • Provide practical recommendations to reduce risks and prevent incidents.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • HSE certifications (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, IOSH, OSHA) preferred.
  • ISO 45001 Internal Auditor certification is an advantage.

Experience & Skills:

  • 35 years of experience in HSE roles, preferably in high-risk or operational environments (manufacturing, construction, logistics, retail, oil & gas, etc.).
  • Experience conducting site inspections, internal audits, and risk assessments.
  • Basic knowledge of HSE management systems and audit methodologies.
  • Ability to identify hazards, non-conformities, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Familiarity with incident reporting and basic root cause analysis.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently on-site and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Knowledge of local HSE regulations and relevant international standards.
