Job Description
Role Description The Senior Health & Safety Specialist is a part-time remote role responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring health and safety programs across the organization. This role involves conducting risk assessments, reviewing workplace practices, and identifying hazards related to operations, processes, and equipment. The specialist will create and update safety policies, procedures, and training materials, and lead virtual safety trainings and toolbox talks for team members. Additional day-to-day tasks include tracking safety metrics, investigating incidents or near-misses, recommending corrective actions, and ensuring compliance with applicable occupational health and safety regulations. The role collaborates with leadership and operational teams to drive a culture of safety, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance.
Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Health & Safety and Workplace Safety skills, including hazard identification and risk mitigation.
- Candidates should possess Occupational Health expertise, including knowledge of regulations, standards, and best practices affecting employees and contractors.
- Candidates should possess Environment Health and Safety (EHS) skills, covering environmental compliance, incident reporting, and prevention programs.
- Candidates should possess Safety Training skills, including developing materials, delivering remote training sessions, and evaluating training effectiveness.
- Relevant experience in a health and safety–focused role, ideally in distribution, logistics, or industrial operations.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and report-writing skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage multiple priorities, and collaborate across teams and levels.
- Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, or equivalent are beneficial; a degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, or a related field is preferred.
