As a Senior HSE Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring health, safety, and environmental compliance across all construction projects. You will be responsible for implementing HSE policies and procedures, conducting inspections, and promoting a culture of safety throughout the organization.
Your responsibilities will encompass the following key areas:
HSE Policy Implementation:
- Implement and maintain the company's HSE policies, standards, and procedures at all construction sites.
- Ensure that all employees and subcontractors comply with HSE requirements and local regulations.
Site Inspection & Compliance Monitoring:
- Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
- Monitor site activities to verify compliance with safety regulations, risk assessments, and method statements.
Risk Assessment & Incident Prevention:
- Prepare and review Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Risk Assessments for various construction activities.
- Identify unsafe acts or conditions and recommend preventive measures.
Training & Awareness:
- Conduct safety training sessions, toolbox talks, and HSE inductions for employees and subcontractors.
- Promote a proactive safety culture across all levels of the organization.
Incident Investigation & Reporting:
- Lead investigations for accidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions.
- Prepare detailed incident reports and ensure lessons learned are communicated and applied.
Documentation & Record Keeping:
- Maintain accurate HSE documentation, including inspection reports, training records, and incident logs.
- Ensure timely submission of HSE performance reports to management.
Emergency Preparedness:
- Develop and implement emergency response plans for construction sites.
- Conduct regular emergency drills to ensure readiness.
Coordination with Project Teams:
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure HSE requirements are integrated into project planning and execution.
- Provide guidance and technical advice on HSE-related matters.
To excel in this role, candidates should possess the following qualifications and attributes:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- 4 - 7 years of experience in HSE roles within the construction industry.
- Strong knowledge of HSE management systems, risk assessment methodologies, and local regulations.
- Certified in NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, or equivalent (mandatory).
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Proficiency in preparing HSE documentation and reports.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
