About the Role:
The Senior HSE Specialist is responsible for supporting the implementation, monitoring, and continuous improvement of health, safety, and environmental practices within the organization. This role involves conducting inspections, identifying workplace risks, ensuring compliance with HSE policies and regulations, supporting incident investigations, and promoting a strong safety culture. The Senior HSE Specialist works closely with internal teams to ensure that operations are carried out safely, responsibly, and in line with applicable standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation of health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and standards.
- Conduct regular workplace inspections, safety audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards and improvement areas.
- Monitor compliance with applicable HSE regulations, internal policies, and client or project requirements.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions, and support the preparation of corrective action plans.
- Prepare and maintain HSE reports, inspection records, incident logs, and compliance documentation.
- Coordinate and deliver safety awareness sessions, toolbox talks, and basic HSE training for employees.
- Support emergency preparedness activities, including drills, response plans, and evacuation procedures.
- Review work practices and advise departments on safe operating procedures and risk control measures.
- Monitor the proper use of personal protective equipment and promote safe behavior across the workplace.
- Coordinate with contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure HSE requirements are followed.
- Track HSE performance indicators and contribute to periodic performance reports.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to workplace safety, environmental compliance, and risk reduction.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in health, safety, and environmental roles.
- Professional certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA, or equivalent is preferred.
- Good knowledge of HSE regulations, risk assessment, incident investigation, and safety management practices.
- Strong ability to conduct inspections, prepare reports, and follow up on corrective actions.
- Excellent communication, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to promote safety awareness and work effectively with different teams and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in MS Office and HSE reporting tools.
- Good command of English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
