Job Purpose

The Senior Instructor plays a critical leadership role across The Red Sea destination, supporting Akun Adventure management in the safe, effective, and high-quality operation of adventure assets. The role contributes to the continued growth and diversification of inland adventure trails and experiences, ensuring world-class delivery for all visiting guests.

The Senior Instructor is responsible for supporting the operational rollout of adventure programs, leading by example in activity delivery, and providing hands-on training, mentoring, and performance support to the instructor team. The role requires close collaboration with internal teams, external stakeholders, and local communities to ensure alignment, safety, and exceptional guest experiences in line with Red Sea Sport & Entertainment standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development, enhancement, and growth of Akun Adventure activities and inland adventure destinations across The Red Sea.
  • Support the training, daily operations, and delivery of all Akun Adventure activities, ensuring consistency and excellence in execution.
  • Assist the leadership team in ensuring full compliance of instructors, guides, guests, and activities with destination-specific SOPs and RAMS, including contributing to their development, review, and continuous improvement.
  • Lead, mentor, and support a team of instructors, fostering a strong safety culture and a premium guest service mindset aligned with the Red Sea service style.
  • Oversee teams to ensure all inland destinations, venues, and adventure equipment are consistently clean, safe, and properly maintained.
  • Actively promote and advocate for all adventure activities across the wider RSSE portfolio, including Galaxea and WAMA, supporting a unified guest experience.
  • Participate in regular operational and performance review sessions with senior adventure leadership, providing insights, recommendations, and operational updates.
  • Interpret, apply, and enforce relevant international adventure and outdoor regulations, liaising with local and international sporting bodies and ecosystems as required.
  • Support incident management, reporting, and follow-up actions, ensuring lessons learned are embedded into operations and training.
  • Act as a role model on-site, leading activities when required and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, safety, and guest engagement.

Policies, Systems, Processes & Reporting

  • Comply with all RSSE and Red Sea Global policies, systems, SOPs, and operational procedures to ensure controlled and consistent delivery.
  • Support the preparation of accurate and timely MIS reports, operational updates, and incident documentation in line with corporate and departmental requirements.

Safety, Quality & Environment

  • Apply safety, quality, and environmental management policies to ensure employee and guest safety, legislative compliance, service excellence, and responsible environmental stewardship.
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture, proactively identifying risks and supporting mitigation measures across all adventure operations.

Continuous Improvement

  • Contribute to the identification and implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across adventure operations, systems, and training practices, aligned with international best practice and operational excellence.

Internal: Adventure Operations, Instructors, RSSE Operations Teams, Asset Management, Resort & Hospitality Teams

External: Local Authorities, Sporting Federations, Environmental & Outdoor Partners, Guests

Job Requirements

Qualifications & Experience

  • Valid Wilderness First Aid or internationally recognized First Aid certification (including CPR and hyper/hypothermia response), with a minimum validity of six (6) months at the time of employment commencement.
  • Basic Land Navigation training, including natural navigation and GPS usage.
  • Leave No Trace certification or equivalent environmental training.
  • Search, Tracking & Operations training.
  • Trekking / Mountain Leader assessment (IFMGA, UIAA, or BMC preferred).
  • Minimum of two (2) additional National Governing Body (NGB) certifications from accredited providers (e.g., Mountain Biking, Climbing, Archery, High Ropes, Quad Biking).
  • Minimum of four (4) to five (5) years experience within the tourism, adventure, or outdoor recreation industry; experience in Saudi Arabia is an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

  • Demonstrated success delivering adventure sports activities in premium hotel or resort environments.
  • Proven ability to lead, supervise, and motivate multicultural teams in collaborative and dynamic settings.
  • Strong risk awareness with the ability to identify hazards and proactively implement mitigation measures.
  • Ability to mentor, coach, and develop instructors both professionally and interpersonally.
  • Experience contributing to the creative evolution of adventure program assets and supporting leadership in the development of new adventure initiatives.
  • Strong commitment to operational excellence, safety, and quality.
  • Entrepreneurial, proactive, and self-motivated mindset.
  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in spoken and written English; additional languages are a strong advantage.
