Main Purpose of Role:
The Senior Instrument Engineer may operate within the Core Engineering Team or PMT project team environment. The Senior Instrument Engineer may have engineer grade instrument personnel under his responsibility and will be tasked with their control and management and the delegation of activities to such support personnel. The Senior Instrument Engineer may work under the supervision of a Lead Instrument Engineer in which case his responsibilities will be as delegated. The Senior Instrument Engineer may be in charge of any or all of the following tasks.
Responsibilities:
1. Day to day control of FEED engineers in preparation of Control Block Diagrams and identification of all field signals
2. Review and approve design of ESD, Fire and Gas Detection system, datasheets and specifications.
3. Provide timely comments on FEED deliverables and ensure their resolution and implementation.
4. Review and approve all drawings, cable trays (above and underground), junction box location and cabling.
5. Review and approve vendor drawings and other submissions
Key Relationships:
PMS Interface
The Senior Instrument Engineer will, if serving in the Core Technical team, report to the FEED/Technical Leader via the Lead Instrument Engineer, or direct if appropriate. For service within the PMT Teams, the Senior Instrument Engineer will report to the Project Head/Senior Project Engineer via the Lead Instrument Engineer or direct if appropriate. The Senior Instrument Engineer will manage the output of engineer grade personnel working under his authority and will liaise with other discipline personnel in the Technical Core Team or PMT teams as appropriate to his area of service.
Client Interface
Client reporting interface shall be via the FEED/Technical Leader for Technical Core Team service, or via the Project Head/Senior Project Engineer for PMT service.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering/Electrical/Electronic or Mechanical Engineering.
Years of Experience:
Twelve (12) years of experience; Six (6) years of them within the field of Instrumentation & Control Engineering for major Oil and Gas/Petrochemical projects. DCS experience required ( Asset integrity experience is a must )
