Client Project | 3-Month Full-Time Engagement
About The Opportunity
We are hiring on behalf of our client for a Senior Java & Spring Boot Engineer to take on an Acting Tech Lead role within a fintech project.
This is a 3-month project-based engagement, with the selected candidate working full-time throughout the project duration. The role requires strong hands-on backend engineering capabilities, combined with technical leadership and a solid understanding of fintech systems and financial transaction flows.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Java and Spring Boot.
- Take on Acting Tech Lead responsibilities, providing technical guidance and supporting the team in delivering high-quality solutions.
- Work extensively with Hibernate/JPA, including entity mapping, transaction management, relationships, and query performance tuning.
- Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot MySQL queries, with a focus on performance, data integrity, and scalability.
- Implement and manage Redis for caching, session management, and distributed locking mechanisms.
- Develop and maintain solutions for critical fintech workflows, including payments, ledgers, reconciliation, audit trails, and lending/loan processes.
- Apply appropriate software engineering and design practices to ensure solutions are maintainable, secure, reliable, and scalable.
- Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality and system reliability.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to technical decision-making and engineering best practices.
- Collaborate closely with product, QA, and other technical stakeholders throughout the development lifecycle.
- Work within an Agile environment, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, reviews, retrospectives, and other Agile ceremonies.
- Use Git for source control, branching, collaboration, and code management.
Required Skills & Experience
- Strong professional experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Solid hands-on experience with Hibernate/JPA, including:
- Entity and relationship mapping
- Transaction management
- Query optimization and performance tuning
- Strong experience with MySQL, including writing, analyzing, and optimizing complex queries.
- Practical experience with Redis, particularly caching, session management, and distributed locks.
- Strong understanding of fintech and financial services systems, with hands-on experience in areas such as:
- Payments
- Financial ledgers
- Reconciliation
- Audit and transaction tracking
- Loans / lending
- Experience writing effective unit tests and applying testing best practices.
- Strong experience with Git and modern software development workflows.
- Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.
- Previous experience providing technical leadership, mentoring, or acting as a technical lead is highly preferred.
- Strong problem-solving, communication, and technical decision-making skills.
