Job Description

Fala Road Contracting L.L.C., a UAE roads and infrastructure contractor, is looking for a Senior Land Surveyor to lead survey operations on our projects. You will plan and supervise all field survey work, manage a team of surveyors and assistants, and make sure every road, bridge, drainage line and structure is built exactly where the approved drawings say it should be.

Responsibilities

Survey Planning & Control

  • Plan, organise and supervise all field surveying activities.
  • Establish project survey control networks, benchmarks and reference points, including horizontal and vertical control.
  • Develop survey methodologies and work plans that support project requirements.
  • Coordinate survey activities with project managers, engineers, planners and construction teams.

Setting-Out & Construction Surveys

  • Perform and supervise setting-out for roads, highways, bridges, drainage systems, utilities, buildings and infrastructure works.
  • Verify coordinates, elevations, alignments and dimensions before construction starts.
  • Ensure works are accurately positioned according to approved drawings and specifications.
  • Lead topographic, boundary, contour and site surveys.
  • Carry out as-built surveys and prepare and validate as-built drawings and survey records.
  • Monitor construction tolerances and ensure compliance with project requirements.

Survey Data & Documentation

  • Process, analyse and validate survey data collected from the field.
  • Prepare survey reports, calculations, coordinate lists, technical documentation and survey certifications.
  • Maintain survey databases, project survey records, control points, benchmarks and field observations.
  • Ensure the accuracy and integrity of all survey information.

Equipment

  • Manage and operate advanced survey equipment, including Total Stations, GPS/GNSS systems, Digital Levels, Auto Levels and Laser Scanners.

Team Leadership

  • Supervise Land Surveyors, Assistant Surveyors and Survey Helpers.
  • Assign tasks and monitor survey team performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to junior survey personnel.
  • Ensure survey activities are carried out efficiently and accurately.

Quality Control

  • Verify survey accuracy and compliance with project specifications.
  • Implement quality control procedures for survey operations.
  • Review survey calculations, reports and deliverables before submission.
  • Investigate and resolve survey discrepancies and technical issues.
  • Support quality audits and inspections.

Health, Safety & Environment

  • Ensure survey operations comply with project HSE requirements.
  • Conduct risk assessments for survey activities.
  • Promote safe work practices and make sure survey personnel use appropriate PPE and follow safety procedures.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Liaise with project managers, consultants, contractors, clients and regulatory authorities.
  • Attend project meetings and provide technical survey support.
  • Support inspections, approvals and project handover activities.
  • Deliver work that meets quality, health, safety and environmental standards.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Land Surveyor on roads, highways or infrastructure projects, including supervising a survey team.
  • Strong hands-on command of Total Stations, GPS/GNSS, Digital and Auto Levels and Laser Scanners.
  • Ability to set out complex works, run as-built surveys and prepare survey reports and as-built drawings.
  • Solid understanding of construction tolerances, QA/QC procedures and HSE requirements.
  • Confident working with consultants, clients and authorities on inspections and approvals.
