Senior Legal Counsel

Fortis is a fast-growing technology company on a mission to deliver innovative software solutions at scale. As we accelerate our expansion, we are looking for a Senior Legal Counsel to join our executive leadership team and become the legal architect of our next chapter.

The Role

You will own the full legal agenda: from corporate governance and commercial transactions to IP strategy, data privacy, and M&A readiness.

Key Responsibilities

• Corporate Governance & Compliance — Establish best-in-class governance frameworks; manage board and shareholder matters; ensure full regulatory compliance.

• Commercial & Transactional Support — Lead negotiation and drafting of all key commercial agreements (customer, vendor, partnership) to accelerate sales cycles.

• IP Strategy & Protection — Develop and execute a comprehensive strategy to identify and protect trademarks, copyrights, and trade secrets.

• Legal Operations — Build scalable legal processes and leverage legal technology to create an efficient internal function.

• Strategic Advisory — Serve as a trusted advisor to the executive team on fundraising, M&A, employment law, and data privacy matters.

• Outside Counsel Management — Engage and manage external counsel effectively, maintaining quality while optimizing legal spend.

What We're Looking For

• 6+ years of legal experience, ideally combining in-house tech/software/FinTech company experience with a strong transactional background

• Qualified lawyer (UAE-admitted or internationally qualified with relevant experience)

• Proven track record in commercial contracts, corporate governance, and IP matters

• Experience supporting fundraising rounds or M&A processes is a strong plus

• Ability to provide clear, business-oriented legal advice in a fast-paced environment

• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

• Fluency in English required
