Senior Legal Officer

Media City Qatar is seeking an experienced Senior Legal Officer to join our Legal Affairs & Contracts Department. The successful candidate will provide high-level legal, contractual, regulatory and compliance support across MCQ, with responsibility for complex and strategically significant matters.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the drafting, review and negotiation of complex commercial, contractual, media, licensing, sponsorship and technology-related agreements.

• Provide legal advice on contractual risk, regulatory requirements, governance, legal structuring and implementation.

• Conduct legal research and analysis of applicable Qatari laws and regulations and prepare legal opinions, memoranda and management briefings.

• Support regulatory and compliance initiatives, including gap assessments, policy development, controls, monitoring and remediation.

• Manage assigned contracts throughout the full lifecycle, ensuring legal, commercial and regulatory requirements are addressed.

• Identify and assess legal and contractual risks and develop appropriate mitigation strategies and recommendations.

• Support contractual breaches, claims, disputes, complaints and investigations, including coordination with external counsel where required.

• Conduct legal and compliance due diligence for significant counterparties, projects and transactions.

• Support corporate governance matters, including resolutions, delegations of authority, policies and committee-related matters.

• Develop and improve legal templates, precedents, playbooks, procedures, guidelines and legal knowledge resources.

• Provide technical guidance, coaching and quality review to junior legal team members.

• Coordinate with external legal counsel and advisers and monitor the effective delivery of assigned matters.

Qualifications & Experience:

•Bachelor's degree in law from a recognized university.

• Admission to practice law or membership of a recognized Bar Association, Law Society or equivalent professional legal body is preferred/required, subject to the applicable jurisdiction.

• 6–8 years of post-qualification legal experience.

• Strong experience in commercial, corporate and contract law, including complex drafting and negotiation.

• Experience in media, broadcasting, digital media, content production, intellectual property, licensing, technology or telecommunications is highly desirable.

• Experience with regulatory compliance, corporate governance, legal risk management and dispute/claims support.

• Experience with international organizations, cross-border transactions or international commercial counterparties is an advantage.

• Experience relating to broadcasting facilities, studio infrastructure, production technologies or content delivery platforms is highly desirable.

• LLM or relevant postgraduate qualification is an advantage.

• Professional fluency in English is required; Arabic is an advantage.
