Role Summary

We are seeking a Senior M365 / Identity Platform Engineer to serve as the Service Lead and Technical Owner for a hybrid Microsoft enterprise environment spanning Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Entra ID, Active Directory, Intune (Enterprise Device Management), and related services.

This role combines deep technical ownership with service leadership, including responsibility for service health, operational excellence, platform reliability, and continuous improvement. You will act as the named decision authority for Microsoft Services and drive maturity across monitoring, automation, documentation, and operational readiness.

This is a high-impact, ownership-driven role, not a ticket-based support position.

Key Responsibilities

Service Leadership

  • Own end-to-end service health and maintain the Service Health Dashboard
  • Drive service maturity improvements (automation, monitoring, documentation)
  • Provide monthly reporting on performance, risks, and capacity
  • Ensure Jira stories meet Definition of Done and operational readiness
  • Act as the primary escalation point and decision authority
  • Mentor engineers and establish secondary technical ownership

M365 & Identity Platform Management

  • Administer Microsoft 365 services: Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Intune
  • Manage Entra ID (Azure AD) and Hybrid Active Directory environments

Configure and support:

  • MFA, Conditional Access, authentication methods
  • Identity lifecycle, governance, and access control

Troubleshoot:

  • Mail flow and email delivery issues
  • Authentication and access failures
  • Hybrid identity and infrastructure issues

Operations & Incident Management

  • Independently resolve production incidents and perform root cause analysis
  • Lead incident response, escalation, and service restoration
  • Assess risks and ensure stability during production changes
  • Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, security, and networking teams

Service Reliability & Continuous Improvement

  • Develop and maintain runbooks, SOPs, and documentation
  • Enhance monitoring, automation, and operational consistency
  • Identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions
  • Drive team-wide cross-training and shared ownership

Required Skill:

  • 10+ years of experience in Microsoft enterprise environments, with strong hands-on expertise in:
  • Microsoft 365 (Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive)
  • Entra ID (Azure AD) and Hybrid Active Directory
  • Microsoft Intune (Enterprise Device Management)
  • Windows Server administration and DNS (hybrid environments)
  • Proven expertise in:
  • Identity lifecycle management
  • MFA and Conditional Access
  • Mail flow troubleshooting and authentication issues
  • Demonstrated experience owning service health, roadmap, and delivery
  • Ability to act as the decision authority for a technical domain
  • Proven track record of improving service reliability through automation, monitoring, and process enhancements
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement with senior leadership
  • Excellent troubleshooting and analytical problem-solving skills
  • Experience working in enterprise-scale production environments
  • Strong documentation and communication capabilities
  • Ability to manage ambiguity and drive outcomes independently
  • High level of accountability with a strong ownership mindset

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation
  • Knowledge of Hybrid Exchange environments and email security (SPF, DKIM, DMARC)
  • Experience with Azure-hosted infrastructure
  • Familiarity with ITIL or service management frameworks
  • Prior experience as a Service Owner, Service Lead, or equivalent role
