Role Objectives:
The Factory Senior Maintenance Engineer is responsible for ensuring the continuous, safe, and efficient operation of all factory machinery and equipment. The role focuses on minimizing downtime through strong electrical (or) mechanical troubleshooting, effective maintenance planning, and hands-on technical leadership across automated and production systems.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Develop and execute preventive maintenance plans for all production equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections covering mechanical components (motors, bearings, gearboxes) and electrical systems (panels, wiring, sensors).
- Apply predictive techniques to identify potential failures before breakdowns occur.
Troubleshooting & Technical Repairs
- Diagnose and resolve complex faults across:
- Electrical systems (control panels, PLCs, drives, sensors, circuits)
- Mechanical systems (conveyors, rotating equipment, assemblies)
- Hydraulic & pneumatic systems
- Ensure rapid response to breakdowns to minimise production downtime.
- Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term corrective actions.
Equipment Installation & Upgrades
- Lead installation and commissioning of new machinery.
- Modify and optimize existing equipment to improve performance and reliability.
- Support integration of automation systems and PLC-controlled processes.
Safety & Compliance
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards and regulations.
- Conduct risk assessments related to electrical and mechanical operations.
- Enforce safe work practices, especially for high-risk activities (lockout/tagout, electrical isolation).
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, breakdowns, and repairs.
- Track recurring issues and provide data-driven improvement recommendations.
Spare Parts & Inventory Management
- Manage inventory of critical electrical and mechanical spare parts.
- Ensure availability of components to reduce downtime risks.
- Coordinate with procurement for timely sourcing.
Technical Leadership & Team Support
- Supervise and guide maintenance technicians on daily activities.
- Provide hands-on training on electrical systems, mechanical repairs, and automation tools.
- Ensure adherence to maintenance standards and operational discipline.
Required Education, Knowledge, And Skills:
- Technical Expertise (Core Requirement)
-Strong hands-on knowledge of:
- Electrical systems: control panels, PLCs, VFDs, sensors, wiring, fault diagnostics
- Mechanical systems: motors, pumps, conveyors, gear systems, alignment
- Hydraulic & pneumatic systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Mechatronics.
- Solid understanding of industrial safety standards and best practices.
- 4-5 years of experience in maintenance at FMCG, manufacturing, or high-volume production environments.
- Exposure to fast-paced operations with high uptime requirements.
