ROLE PURPOSE
Perform advanced mechanical maintenance and repair on extrusion presses, handling equipment, and plant machinery, guiding junior mechanics and ensuring maximum equipment uptime.
KEY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance on extrusion presses, pullers, saws, and ancillary mechanical equipment.
- Diagnose complex mechanical faults on hydraulic and pneumatic systems and carry out corrective repairs.
- Guide and supervise junior maintenance mechanics and helpers on daily maintenance tasks.
- Perform alignment, lubrication, and overhaul of gearboxes, bearings, pumps, and press cylinders.
- Coordinate spare parts requirements with the Maintenance In-Charge and store team.
- Maintain accurate job cards, maintenance logs, and equipment history records.
- Support planned shutdowns and major overhauls, ensuring work is completed within schedule.
- Ensure all mechanical work is carried out in compliance with lock-out/tag-out and plant safety procedures.
- Recommend improvements to reduce recurring breakdowns and extend equipment life.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Should possess strong skills in Equipment Maintenance and Industrial Maintenance, with experience in a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
- Should possess skills in Preventive Maintenance, including planning and executing routine inspections and servicing of machinery and facility systems.
- Should possess skills in Corrective Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair, including troubleshooting, diagnostics, and timely resolution of mechanical issues.
- Should have knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and basic electrical components, as well as the safe use of hand and power tools.
- Should demonstrate the ability to read and interpret technical drawings, equipment manuals, and maintenance documentation.
- Should have strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced production environment.
- Should have 5-8 years of mechanical maintenance experience in an aluminium extrusion or heavy manufacturing plant, including hydraulic press systems.
- Should hold a ITI / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent trade qualification.
