The Senior Manager Legal is responsible for the delivery of strategic legal counsel and risk management support across DHAM's business operations, ensuring full compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and corporate governance standards. The role is responsible for managing both routine and complex legal and contractual matters, providing proactive, solution-oriented advice that enables sound business decisions. It also oversees the development and implementation of best practices in procurement, contracting, and governance, driving operational efficiency and legal risk mitigation. In addition, the Senior Manager legal provides leadership, technical guidance, and quality assurance to the Legal Department, ensuring excellence, consistency, and continuous improvement in all legal services and processes.
Legal Advisory and Risk Management
- Provide legal advice or opinions on complex legislative and regulatory matters, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, to mitigate legal and contractual risks.
- Serve as Risk Champion for the Legal Department, promoting risk awareness, compliance, and mitigation initiatives.
- Serve as Business Continuity Management (BCM) Champion, ensuring departmental readiness and compliance with corporate resilience standards.
- Draft concise legal briefs and share them with relevant teams to keep stakeholders informed of key legal implications.
Contract Drafting, Review, and Negotiation
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documentation, agreements, forms, and correspondence relevant to DHAM's business.
- Negotiate with external parties ensuring DHAM's interests are safeguarded at all times.
- Develop, update, and standardize contract templates, legal forms, and internal documentation to ensure consistency and efficiency.
- Transactions relate to leasing (retail, residential, offices), licenses, procurement, technical / development, marketing, commercial and corporate.
Strategic Projects and Business Support
- Support the Head of Legal on strategic and special projects by delivering relevant legal documentation.
- Assist in the trademark registration process and maintain liaison with external trademark agents for IP management.
Leadership and Team Development
- Supervise, mentor, and provide continuous training to junior legal team members, fostering professional growth and development.
- Contribute to improving departmental efficiency through knowledge sharing, standardization, and process improvements.
Reporting and Departmental Coordination
- Prepare, update, and present legal and business reports summarizing key risks, matters, and project progress.
- Coordinate with internal teams and external counsel to ensure timely resolution of legal issues and efficient completion of deliverables.
Compliance Support
- Contribute to the fulfillment of corporate compliance requirements and initiatives.
Process Optimization
- Support the continuous improvement and digital optimization of legal workflows and processes.
Departmental Assistance
- Provide dedicated support to HOL, as required.
Minimum Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Law
Qualified lawyer
Experience:
At least 7 years post qualification of diversified profound experience in a Corporate Legal team or Law Firm, with at least three (3) years in a senior/managerial role.
