Senior Manager, Personal Banking Audit

Job Description

Job Purpose

  • Support preparation of Annual Risk Based Audit Plans for all functions within the Personal Banking business.
  • Perform semi-annual risk assessments of audit entities.
  • Perform risk based audits, investigations, and consultancy assignments.
  • Prepare audit reports and ensure completeness of documentation on Teammate.
  • Perform continuous auditing of assigned areas/ product specialization.
  • Work with management on plans to mitigate risk.
  • Participate in preparation of Board and Management committees presentations.
  • Conduct periodic follow up exercise and review closure of open observations.
  • Mentor and train junior staff on best practices and enhance their skills in conducting audit assignments.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Contribute to developing the strategic plan of audit
  • Implementing the strategic plan developed by CAE
  • Contribution to the Bank's strategy and performance
  • Add value and suggest improvements to the IA policy and procedures document to reflect actual processes
  • Adherence to Audit's policies and procedures
  • Lead and execute the targeted annual development plans for IA staff
  • Accurate escalation to the line manager about team performance & assessment of team needs
  • Enhancing skills by acquiring Internationally recognized certifications
  • Articles and standards shared with staff and discussion performed to improve staff knowledge and skills
  • Provide a supportive learning environment by offering on-the-job training opportunities for new team members, especially UAE nationals.
  • Serve as a mentor to junior team members, offering guidance and support as they navigate their roles within the department.

  • Able to manage and resolve conflicts with minimal intervention by CAE

Planning:

  • Approved Planning methodology is implemented.
  • Audit planning is well structured, covering all risky areas
  • Audit team is efficiently utilized and adhere to scope and objectives.
  • Contribute to the cost effectiveness of the department.
  • Coordinate and plan activities as effectively as possible.

Fieldwork:

  • Audit tests are carried outas prescribed and within agreed time frames
  • Audit work papers comply with IIA standards.
  • High risk and regulatory observations are escalated immediately to CAE.
  • Conflict between team members is minimal and effectively managed.
  • Conflict with auditees is effectively managed. Fieldwork is conducted in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing
  • Manage the exit meeting in a professional manner Maintain professional behavior with auditees
  • Risks and impacts are properly assessed and promptly reported to protect the Bank's interest.

Reporting:

  • Prepare a comprehensive executive summary that reflects the key risks and management risk awareness.
  • Follow the IA risk rating methodology in assigning the risk rating.
  • Timely completion of audit reports and special projects.
  • Explain risks to auditees and identify root causes within an efficient time frame.
  • Audit reports address the main audit concerns and provide value added recommendations for improvements.

Follow up:

  • Follow up on management actions addressing risks identified in audit issues to ensure they are implemented.
  • Continuous audit for identified key risk areas undertaken periodically and results escalated.
  • Update the list of reports to be tested periodically
  • Testing is effective and results are accurate
  • Action taken by audit team members is tested for quality assurance.
  • Identify new initiatives, projects, products and operational changes at an early stage
  • Maintaining effective & professional working relationships with all Bank employees.
  • Initiate feedback on completed audit reviews and ensure obtaining response from auditees and management on the quality and usefulness of audit services
  • Average time taken to complete an audit from planning to reporting to be within the budget.
  • Ensure timely attendance and punctuality.

Experience & Qualifications

  • University graduate in accounting, commerce or finance
  • Internationally recognized accounting/auditing qualification: ACA, CPA, CIA, CISA, etc.)
  • Certified Anti Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS)
  • 10+ years internal/external auditing experience in the Financial Services industry
  • 8+ years experience in banking Internal Audit with experience in auditing all areas of Personal Banking including Asset Products, Liabilities, Digital Banking, Investment Products, Customer Experience,
  • Experience of auditing AML/CFT, regulatory compliance and Consumer Protection Regulations
  • Currently working in a Manager role in a Bank in UAE in which audit assignments were conducted independently with minimum supervision.
