Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Pre-Sales Engineer supports the sales function by designing and positioning tailored technical solutions that address customer needs. This role involves engaging with clients, developing proposals and presentations, and collaborating with internal teams and vendors to drive successful deal closures.

Main Roles and Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement & Requirements Analysis

  • Engage with customers to understand, gather, and analyze business and technical requirements.
  • Provide clear technical clarifications, explanations, and solution illustrations.
  • Build strong relationships with clients to ensure alignment and trust.

Solution Design & Technical Consulting

  • Design end-to-end solutions, including architecture, integration, and technical assessments.
  • Develop tailored solution proposals aligned with customer requirements.
  • Conduct product comparisons, benchmarking, and competitive analysis.

Presentations & Demonstrations

  • Develop and deliver compelling presentations and product demonstrations.
  • Articulate the value proposition of solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Sales Support & Bid Management

  • Support the sales team in preparing proposals and client-facing materials.
  • Assist in tendering and bidding processes to ensure accurate and competitive submissions.
  • Contribute to the development of RFP and RFQ responses.
  • Follow up on opportunities with the sales team to ensure progress and closure.

Proof of Concept & Technical Validation

  • Collaborate with the services team to develop proof of concepts (PoCs) and prototype solutions.
  • Validate solution feasibility and performance against client requirements.

Account Planning & Target Achievement

  • Develop and maintain technical account plans.
  • Own and drive the achievement of assigned solution-related annual targets.

Vendor & Partnership Management

  • Maintain compliance with vendor partnership and certification requirements.
  • Manage and update vendor pipelines.
  • Register opportunities with vendors and track their progress.

Project Handover & Internal Collaboration

  • Ensure smooth handover of won opportunities to the Project Management team.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful delivery alignment.

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5–8 years of professional experience in mechanical engineering.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Data Centers, Critical Facilities, or Mission-Critical Infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in technical proposal preparation, tendering, and bid management.

Technical Knowledge

Strong understanding of:

  • Precision Cooling Systems (CRAC/CRAH).
  • Chilled Water and Direct Expansion (DX) Cooling Systems.
  • Hot Aisle / Cold Aisle Containment solutions.
  • In-Row Cooling Systems (preferred).

Engineering Competencies

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Review and validate cooling load calculations.
  • Select and size mechanical equipment in accordance with project requirements.
  • Review mechanical drawings, technical specifications, and design documents.
  • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQs) and technical documentation.
  • Apply data center redundancy concepts, including N, N+1, and related availability strategies.

Data Center Standards & Compliance

Working knowledge of:

  • ASHRAE Thermal Guidelines for Data Processing Environments.
  • Uptime Institute Tier Standards and design concepts.
  • TIA-942 Data Center Infrastructure Standard (basic understanding).

Software Proficiency

Required:

  • AutoCAD.
  • Microsoft Excel.
  • HAP or equivalent HVAC load calculation software.

Preferred:

  • Revit.
  • Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software.
  • Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with leading data center cooling solutions from manufacturers such as Schneider Electric, STULZ, Vertiv, Huawei Digital Power, and Rittal.
  • Previous involvement in data center, telecommunications, banking, or other mission-critical infrastructure projects.
