The role includes collaborating closely with cross-functional teams such as electrical engineering, manufacturing, and procurement to optimize designs for performance, cost, and manufacturability. The engineer will review and validate designs through simulations, prototyping, and testing, and will support troubleshooting, design changes, and continuous improvement activities. Additional responsibilities include mentoring junior engineers, preparing technical documentation, and contributing to project planning and design reviews.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce complete design packages: assembly and fabrication drawings, BOMs, and material specifications.
  • Define and oversee type test programs; prepare and review test reports.
  • Specify materials and surface treatments suitable for high-temperature and corrosive outdoor environments.
  • Review and approve engineering documents in the Verifier role; enforce document control and file handover discipline.
  • Develop SolidWorks macros and Excel tools to accelerate panel and hardware configuration.
  • Mentor junior engineers and conduct structured technical reviews of their work.
  • Coordinate with production, electrical, and procurement teams to ensure design manufacturability.
  • Support FAT sessions and customer or authority submittals.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 7–12 years of relevant experience; minimum 5 years in LV/MV electrical enclosures or OHL hardware design.
  • SolidWorks CSWP certification - mandatory.
  • Solid knowledge of IEC mechanical and environmental standards for electrical panels and OHL equipment.
  • Familiarity with Saudi Electricity Company (SEC) mechanical requirements is a strong advantage.
  • Experience with type test preparation and FAT procedures.
  • Strong command of sheet-metal DFM, thermal management, and outdoor hardware mechanics.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office; ability to build structured engineering workbooks.
  • Fluent in English; Arabic is an advantage.
