Job Title: Design Engineer - Mechanical
Location: Qatar
Job Summary:
The Design Engineer - Mechanical will be responsible for leading the design, coordination, calculations, and local authority approval processes for complex mechanical building services (HVAC, Plumbing, Drainage, and Firefighting) across high-rise commercial, residential, and hospitality projects in Qatar.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop full mechanical system designs (HVAC, plumbing, drainage, firefighting) in compliance with project specifications and international/local codes.
- Perform load calculations using HAP (or equivalent) and size all mechanical equipment, ductwork, and piping.
- Prepare and review design drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Select and specify equipment including chillers, FAHUs, AHUs, FCUs, pumps, valves, and control systems.
- Liaise with local authorities (QCDD, Kahramaa, MME) for design approvals, NOCs, and compliance verification.
- Participate in BIM/Revit coordination to ensure clash-free routing across disciplines.
- Identify Value Engineering and cost-saving opportunities throughout the design lifecycle.
- Prepare BOQs, design reports, and support QA/QC and commissioning plan validation.
Required Qualifications & Certifications:
- Education: Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Mandatory License: UPDA / MMUP Certified Mechanical Engineer – Grade A.
- Authority Approvals: QCDD Approved Engineer.
- Preferred Certifications: NFPA, ASHRAE, LEED, or ESTIDAMA.
Experience & Technical Skills:
- 10 to 15 years total experience in mechanical system design for high-rise commercial, residential, and hospitality towers.
- Minimum 8 to 10 years of GCC experience.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, HAP, Elite, and BIM coordination workflows.
- In-depth knowledge of standards: ASHRAE, SMACNA, NFPA, CIBSE, BS, and local codes (QCDD, Kahramaa).
