Job Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer (Plumbing & Fire Protection – Design)Location: Qatar

1. Purpose of the RoleTo lead the design, coordination, and delivery of plumbing and fire protection systems for construction projects, ensuring efficient, compliant, and high-quality engineering solutions aligned with project requirements and international standards.
2. Key ResponsibilitiesA. Plumbing System Design
- Lead design of domestic water supply, drainage, sewage, storm water, and irrigation systems.
- Perform hydraulic calculations, pipe sizing, and equipment selection (pumps, tanks, heaters, etc.).
- Prepare design layouts, schematics, and detailed drawings.
B. Fire Protection System Design
- Design firefighting systems including sprinkler systems, standpipes, fire hose reels, and fire pumps.
- Perform hydraulic calculations and system sizing as per NFPA standards.
- Prepare detailed design drawings and specifications for fire protection systems.
C. Design Coordination
- Coordinate with architectural, structural, and other MEP disciplines.
- Ensure proper integration of plumbing and firefighting systems within building design.
- Identify and resolve design clashes using BIM tools.
D. Codes & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS), NFPA, and local authority regulations.
- Prepare and review design submissions for authority approvals.
- Liaise with civil defense and relevant authorities when required.
E. Technical Review
- Review and approve shop drawings, material submittal, and method statements.
- Respond to RFIs and provide technical clarifications.
- Participate in design reviews and value engineering initiatives.
F. Construction Support
- Provide technical support during the construction phase.
- Conduct site inspections to ensure compliance with approved design.
- Support testing & commissioning of plumbing and firefighting systems.
Requirements
Qualifications & Requirements- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- UPDA/MMUP Certification (mandatory / preferred as per company requirement)
- 10–12 years of experience in plumbing & fire protection design within construction projects
- Strong experience in consultancy or contractor design environment
Technical Skills- Expertise in plumbing and firefighting system design
- Strong knowledge of NFPA codes, IPC/UPC, and local regulations
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, BIM tools
- Experience with hydraulic calculation software (e.g., Elite, Pipe Flow, etc.)
