Job Description

Role Overview

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Technical Office Engineer to support project execution through effective technical coordination, documentation, and cost control. The role involves preparing shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, quantity take-offs, and coordinating with site teams, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure mechanical works are executed in compliance with project specifications, timelines, and quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Office & Engineering Support

  • Prepare and review mechanical shop drawings in accordance with project specifications, standards, and approved design drawings.
  • Prepare method statements, technical submissions, and material submittals for mechanical systems.
  • Ensure all technical documents are compliant with contract requirements and consultant approvals.

Quantity Surveying & Cost Control

  • Perform quantity take-offs for mechanical works and prepare BOQs when required.
  • Assist in cost estimation, variation orders, and value engineering proposals.
  • Monitor material usage and coordinate with procurement to ensure cost efficiency.

Coordination & Communication

  • Coordinate with site engineers to resolve technical issues and support construction activities.
  • Liaise with consultants, clients, and subcontractors to address design clarifications and technical queries.
  • Ensure alignment between technical office outputs and site execution requirements.

Project Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain organized records of drawings, submittals, approvals, and revisions.
  • Track RFIs, technical queries, and approval statuses to avoid delays.
  • Provide technical reports and updates to the Mechanical Technical Office Manager or Project Manager.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure mechanical works comply with applicable codes, standards, and project specifications.
  • Support quality control activities by reviewing installation procedures and inspection requirements.

Requirements

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.

Experience

  • 36 years of experience as a Mechanical Technical Office Engineer in construction projects.
  • Previous experience in infrastructure, buildings, or MEP projects is preferred.

Technical Skills

  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, or related systems).
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
  • Familiarity with material submittals, method statements, and RFIs.

Computer Skills

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Good command of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of BIM software (Revit) is an advantage.

Soft Skills

  • Strong coordination and communication skills.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet project deadlines.
