Senior Network Software Engineer
We are looking for a Senior Network Software Engineer to join a highly skilled engineering team developing secure, next-generation communication products for mission-critical environments.
This is a hands-on software engineering role, focused on designing and implementing advanced networking capabilities across embedded and Linux-based platforms. You'll be building the networking technologies that power secure communications products used by government and defence customers.
Working alongside software engineers, system architects and product teams, you'll help develop new networking features, routing capabilities and communication protocols that will shape future secure networking solutions.
What You'll Do
- Design and develop networking software across Linux and embedded platforms
- Develop networking functionality using C/C++ and Python
- Implement communication protocols across multiple layers of the network stack (MAC, IP, TCP/UDP)
- Design and implement dynamic routing protocols including OSPF, RIP and MANET
- Develop seamless handover capabilities between different network technologies
- Prototype and validate networking solutions using 3GPP/LTE/5G communication protocols
- Support the development of AI-enabled networking capabilities for modems and routers
- Port networking features across multiple hardware platforms and build environments
- Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to develop secure networking products
- Troubleshoot complex networking and protocol-related issues across hardware and software
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline
- 6+ years experience developing networking or telecommunications software
- Strong programming experience with C/C++ and Python
- Excellent understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, UDP, Ethernet and IP networking
- Experience implementing or working with routing protocols such as OSPF, RIP, BGP or MANET
- Knowledge of Linux and embedded Linux development environments
- Experience working with 3GPP, LTE or 5G technologies is highly desirable
- Understanding of communication protocols across multiple layers of the networking stack
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to develop innovative networking solutions
- Comfortable working in collaborative, fast-paced product development environments
Desirable Experience
We're particularly interested in candidates with experience gained within leading telecommunications, networking, embedded communication technologies or defence technology organisations.
