Reports to: Assistant Director, Technology Security Operations
Purpose: The job holder would be responsible for keeping AUC IT resources safe and secure by administering IT security systems and controls. This function is the critical gate keeper and executer for security controls on ground.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Manage the operation, support and maintenance of IT security systems and controls, such as Firewalls, NAC, DNS security, End point protection servers, AWS security, Azure security, and others, whether on premise or on AUC clouds
- Implement and maintain security and compliance requirements advised from the Information Security Office
- Execute vendors or third parties access requests
- Execute VPN access solution for remote users, remote sites, clouds and disaster recovery sites
- Handles the operations of single sign on, multi factor authentication and Identity management solution components
- Execute application control, web filtering and anti-malware or anti-virus global setup
- Act as the third or expert level of support for users regarding IT security related issues
- Coordinate with the Information and Technology Security Management Manager in identifying risks
- Coordinate with the Business Continuity Manager to address continuity plans for IT security controls and fail scenarios
- Coordinate with the Advanced Information Security Operation Center Manager to tune security controls, act as incident response when needed and to report attacks and suspicious behaviors
- Report violations as well as operational exceptions to Information Security Office
- Participate in security solutions design and in tuning controls enforcement and effectiveness
- Troubleshoot and solve IT security operational problems
- Execute daily related change and release requests
- Configure needed hardening and fine tuning to the IT security systems
- Ensure proper IT security systems and controls are patched and updated as needed
- Work closely with infrastructure and application teams in all technical or security-related issues
- Implement regular IT security hardware and software asset inventory actions AUC-wide, on premise and on clouds
- Perform any other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Minimum education requirement:
- Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, or equivalent
Experience:
- Minimum of ten years of experience in the IT security field
- Experience in educational institution in an organization on a similar scale as AUC
Skills:
- Good knowledge of networking, security and programming concepts
- Real hands-on experience with IT security solutions installation and tuning
- Excellent knowledge and experience of the IT security concepts and mechanisms of defense
- Good understanding of well-known security vendors products
- Good knowledge of all variants of operating systems and common business applications
- Holding IT or IS security certifications
- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Excellent command of English language
