Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior Oracle Database Administrator to lead the design, implementation, optimization, and ongoing maintenance of our Oracle database environment. This role combines advanced technical leadership with hands-on administration to ensure the reliability, performance, and security of critical data assets. The ideal candidate will collaborate with engineering, operations, security, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable database solutions and drive best practices across the data lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, installation, patching, migration, and tuning of Oracle databases (RAC, Data Guard, Exadata).
  • Monitor and optimize database performance, capacity planning, and query optimization.
  • Develop and enforce database security controls, backups, disaster recovery plans, and high-availability strategies.
  • Collaborate with developers and data engineers to design efficient schemas, indexing strategies, and data access patterns.
  • Manage database change control, incident response, and problem resolution with timely root-cause analysis.
  • Assist in capacity planning, risk assessments, and remediation of audit findings.
  • Mentor junior DBAs and drive best practices for coding, testing, and deployment.
  • Create and maintain operational runbooks, documentation, and performance benchmarks.
  • Stay current with Oracle product features, roadmaps, and industry standards.

Required Qualifications

  • X-Y years of experience in Oracle Database Administration
  • Strong hands-on experience with Oracle RAC, Data Guard, RMAN, flashback technology, and performance tuning
  • Proficiency in SQL, PL/SQL, and complex query optimization
  • Experience with Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) or similar monitoring/management tools
  • Familiarity with backup/restore strategies, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning
  • Solid understanding of security, compliance, and auditing requirements for databases
  • Proven ability to lead projects, manage stakeholders, and work in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Oracle Exadata or cloud-based Oracle deployments (OCI, AWS, Azure)
  • Certifications such as Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or Oracle Certified Master (OCM)
  • Knowledge of Linux/Unix system administration and shell scripting
  • Experience with data integration and high-availability architectures
  • Exposure to DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines related to database changes
