Job Description

SENIOR TENDERING ENGINEER

Typical Reporting Line: Sales, Marketing & Tendering Manager

Mission Statement

The Senior Tendering Engineer is responsible for preparing accurate, competitive, and technically compliant proposals for LV switchgear and panel building projects. The role ensures that all tenders reflect customer requirements, company capabilities, and market conditions, supporting the organization's growth objectives and profitability targets.

Main Accountabilities

Tender Review and Technical Evaluation

Analyze tender documents, specifications, drawings, and BOQs to define scope, identify requirements, and determine the optimal technical solution. Prepare preliminary SLDs, GA layouts, compliance sheets, and technical clarifications to ensure full alignment with client standards and IEC requirements.

Cost Estimation and Pricing

Develop complete technical and commercial costings covering components, fabrication, assembly, testing, logistics, and service. Coordinate closely with Procurement to obtain competitive supplier pricing. Evaluate value-engineering options to enhance competitiveness while protecting margins.

Cross-Functional Coordination

Work closely with Sales, Design, Operations, and Procurement to validate technical assumptions, delivery schedules, production feasibility, and commercial conditions. Engage suppliers for technical clarification and updated quotations.

Tender Documentation and Submissions

Prepare complete technical and commercial offers, including datasheets, compliance statements, clarifications, and pricing schedules. Ensure tender submissions are accurate, well-structured, and submitted within defined deadlines.

 

 

Risk Identification and Handover

Identify technical risks, cost uncertainties, and scope gaps. Participate in bid/no-bid decisions to support management. Provide a complete and structured handover package to Project Management and Design after order award, ensuring clarity of all assumptions and conditions.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (Power).
  • 4–7 years in LV tendering, estimation, or technical sales.
  • Strong knowledge of LV switchgear: MDBs, MCCs, MCCBs/ACBs, ATS, capacitor banks, synchronizing panels, etc.
  • Experience with major OEMs (ABB, Schneider, Siemens).
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong analytical and communication skills.
