The Senior Planning and Cost Engineer handles the planning, scheduling, and cost control functions for major projects and programs. This role ensures accurate cost estimation, robust schedules, risk-based forecasting, and clear performance reporting to drive informed decision-making, optimize resources, and protect project margins from inception through completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and control integrated project schedules.
- Handle the creation and ongoing refinement of cost estimates and budgets for fit-out and construction works, including preliminaries, trades, subcontractor scopes, materials, labor, plant, and overheads.
- Implement and maintain robust earned value management (EVM) and cost forecasting processes to monitor health, identify variances, and forecast final project costs (EAC) against the baseline.
- Prepare and present weekly/monthly project controls reports (cost, schedule, risk, and change) to senior leadership and clients.
- Develop and maintain change management processes, including scope variance analysis, change orders, and related financial implications; monitor impact on schedule and cash flow.
- Conduct risk assessments and probabilistic analysis (e.g., P50/P80 scenarios) to quantify potential impacts on cost and schedule.
- Lead the pricing and estimation of change orders, value engineering opportunities, and procurement strategies for fit-out packages (partitions, ceilings, joinery, facades, MEP interfaces, finishes, FF&E).
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil/Structural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related discipline; Master's degree or relevant certification preferred.
