Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Planning Engineer with a strong background in shipbuilding, shipyard operations, and marine construction projects to lead project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and reporting activities for major shipbuilding programs. The role will be responsible for developing integrated project schedules, monitoring project performance, supporting project controls, and ensuring successful project delivery in line with cost, schedule, and quality objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and control detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 and MS Project
  • Establish and manage project baselines, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), coding structures, and progress measurement systems.
  • Lead planning activities across engineering, procurement, fabrication, block construction, outfitting, commissioning, and vessel delivery stages.
  • Monitor project progress against approved schedules and identify schedule deviations, risks, and recovery requirements.
  • Prepare and present weekly and monthly reports including S-curves, KPI dashboards, manpower histograms, critical path analysis, and schedule performance reviews.
  • Coordinate with project management, production, engineering, procurement, and subcontractors to ensure alignment of project objectives and milestones.
  • Perform schedule impact assessments, risk analysis, productivity evaluations, and recovery planning to support project execution.
  • Support project controls functions including forecasting, earned value analysis, progress validation, and management reporting.
  • Lead project planning meetings and provide recommendations to management on schedule optimization and resource utilization.
  • Mentor and guide junior planners and project control personnel to support department development and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Project Management or Project Controls certifications are considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Minimum 13 years of experience in shipbuilding, shipyard, offshore, or marine construction projects.
  • Proven experience in planning and scheduling of:
  • Newbuild vessels
  • Offshore vessels
  • Shipyard fabrication and assembly works
  • Marine construction projects
  • Experience working in large-scale shipyards or EPC marine environments is highly preferred.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Project and project scheduling methodologies.
  • Experience with project controls, cost and schedule analysis, forecasting, and earned value management (EVM).
  • Strong understanding of shipbuilding processes, including block construction, fabrication, outfitting, commissioning, and vessel delivery.
  • Ability to develop WBS structures, manpower plans, resource forecasts, and progress measurement systems.

Preferred

  • Previous Middle East shipyard experience.
  • Knowledge of Power BI, SAP, or other project reporting systems.
  • Experience in complex vessel construction, offshore structures, or naval shipbuilding projects.
  • PMP, PSP, or equivalent project controls certification would be an advantage.
