Job Summary

The Senior Planning Engineer is responsible for overseeing and managing planning and scheduling activities for engineering and construction projects. The role involves developing detailed project schedules, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams, and monitoring project progress to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.

The position plays a key role in resource planning, risk identification, progress tracking, and stakeholder communication, ensuring project objectives are achieved in line with organizational standards and contractual requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and update comprehensive project schedules covering all activities, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Establish project baselines and monitor progress against approved schedules.
  • Analyze schedule deviations, delays, and risks, and propose corrective and preventive actions.
  • Perform critical path analysis and schedule impact assessments.
  • Coordinate with project managers, engineers, procurement, logistics, and subcontractors to gather inputs and define project scope and priorities.
  • Facilitate regular progress and coordination meetings, providing clear schedule status updates.
  • Support project teams with planning inputs and scheduling best practices.
  • Track project progress, productivity, and resource utilization.
  • Prepare and issue regular planning reports, dashboards, and presentations for management and clients.
  • Analyze project performance data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Support cash flow forecasting, resource planning, and revenue projections.
  • Utilize advanced planning tools such as Primavera P6 for schedule development and control.
  • Support ERP system integration (SAP preferred) for planning, cost, and resource data.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, IMS, quality standards, and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure alignment with local and international construction standards.
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and technical support to junior planning engineers.
  • Promote best practices in planning, scheduling, and project controls.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, tools, and methodologies related to project planning and control.
  • Support HSE initiatives and safety awareness programs.
  • Participate in incident reporting, investigation, and corrective actions in line with company and IMS policies.

Job Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals.
  • In-depth understanding of project planning principles, methodologies, and scheduling techniques.
  • Advanced proficiency in Primavera P6.
  • Knowledge of research methods, data collection, and performance analysis.
  • Familiarity with local and international construction standards.
  • ERP system knowledge, preferably SAP functional skills.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.

Job Experience

  • Minimum 7 years total professional experience.
  • At least 5 years of relevant experience in planning and scheduling.
