Job Overview
The Senior Planning & Programs Analyst is responsible for leading financial planning, analysis, and strategic budgeting to support organizational goals and long-term sustainability. This role plays a critical part in developing multi-year financial strategies, overseeing budgeting and reporting processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory and accounting standards. The position also involves managing financial resources, supporting fundraising efforts, and providing strategic insights to senior leadership and the board. Additionally, the role oversees financial operations, strengthens internal controls, and drives operational efficiency through improved systems and processes.
Job Requirements and Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Master's degree or MBA preferred).
- Professional certification required: CMA, CFA, CPA, or equivalent.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in financial management.
- Proven experience in financial planning and analysis (FP&A), budgeting, and financial reporting.
- Demonstrated track record in managing large-scale budgets and preparing financial statements.
- Experience overseeing audits and ensuring compliance with local and international accounting standards.
- Strong financial management skills, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, fund accounting, and cost control.
- In-depth knowledge of compliance, governance, nonprofit regulations, tax-exempt requirements, and audit processes.
- Strategic thinking with the ability to align financial planning with organizational mission and long-term objectives.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
- Proven leadership experience in managing and developing finance and accounting teams.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders, senior leadership, and board members.
- Proficiency in ERP and accounting systems (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle NetSuite, SAP), advanced Excel modeling, and reporting tools.
- Understanding of fundraising, donor compliance, grants management, and financial stewardship.
- Ability to develop multi-year financial plans, forecasts, and scenario analyses.
- Experience in managing restricted and unrestricted funds, grants, and donor contributions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to improve financial processes, ensure transparency, and manage risk effectively.
