Role Description The Senior Plumbing & Firefighting Design Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Cairo, Egypt. This role is responsible for designing plumbing and firefighting systems for residential, commercial, and industrial projects, ensuring compliance with local codes, international standards, and client requirements. Day-to-day tasks include preparing design calculations, sizing pipes and equipment, developing detailed drawings and specifications, and coordinating with multidisciplinary design teams. The engineer will review and validate designs, support site teams during construction, respond to technical inquiries, and participate in design reviews and value engineering exercises. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers, contributing to quality assurance processes, and collaborating directly with clients and stakeholders to align technical solutions with project objectives.
Qualifications
- Strong technical expertise in Plumbing system design, including water supply, drainage, and sanitary systems.
- Proficiency in Pipe sizing, layout, and selection for plumbing and firefighting networks.
- Experience in Maintenance & Repair and Maintenance planning for plumbing and firefighting systems, with a focus on reliability and safety.
- Ability to provide professional Customer Service when interacting with clients, contractors, and internal teams.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline; advanced certifications in building services or fire protection are an advantage.
- Hands-on experience (typically 7+ years) in plumbing and firefighting design within consultancy or construction projects, preferably in Egypt or the MENA region.
- Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (e.g., NFPA, local building codes, international plumbing codes).
- Proficiency in design and drafting software such as AutoCAD and BIM/revit tools, alongside strong MS Office skills.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with attention to detail and quality.
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with capacity to lead, mentor, and coordinate across multidisciplinary teams.
