Job Description
The Senior Principal Engineer - Welding R&D requires hands on experience on:
- R&D and innovation in welding and joining technologies
- Welding equipment and tooling development
- Metallurgy, material behavior, and defect prevention
- Testing & validation
Responsibilities
- Lead R&D and innovation in welding and joining technologies, from concept to industrial deployment.
- Develop, optimize, procedures, and parameters for new materials and applications.
- Drive welding equipment and tooling development, including specification, design input, prototyping, testing, and integration of advanced systems (automation, robotics, power supplies, sensors).
- Provide expert knowledge in weld metallurgy, material behavior, and defect prevention.
- Define and supervise testing, validation, and qualification activities in compliance with relevant standards.
- Support industrialization and technology transfer to manufacturing, including troubleshooting complex issues.
- Lead or contribute to technical projects, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with external partners.
- Ensure quality, safety, and regulatory compliance, while contributing to cost, performance, and sustainability objectives.
Qualifications
- Engineering Degree
- Minimum 15 Years of Experience in R&D and innovation in welding and joining technologies
- Ability to lead the team
- Willing to relocate to Jebel Ali
- Organized and Detailed Oriented
- Proficient is activities such as: R&D, automatic GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding), automatic GTAW (Gast Tungsten Arc Welding), pipeline welding, welding automatization, Offshore pipelay installation (S-lay & J-lay), welding pipeline equipment.
