Job Summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Procurement Engineer to support procurement and supply chain activities for electrical infrastructure, substations, and power plant projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and evaluating suppliers, managing procurement processes for critical electrical equipment, negotiating commercial terms, and ensuring compliance with project specifications, quality standards, and delivery schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
Procurement & Supply Chain Management
- Manage the procurement cycle from requisition to purchase order issuance for electrical power project materials and equipment.
- Source, evaluate, and qualify suppliers and subcontractors based on technical, commercial, and operational capabilities.
- Coordinate with engineering, project management, and planning teams to ensure timely procurement of project requirements.
- Monitor supplier performance, delivery schedules, and order status to ensure project milestones are achieved.
- Support supply chain optimization initiatives to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and mitigate procurement risks.
Technical Evaluation
- Review and evaluate vendor quotations for major electrical equipment, including:
- Power Transformers
- Switchgears
- MV/LV Cables
- Protection and Control Systems
- Electrical Panels and Auxiliary Equipment
- Ensure supplier offers fully comply with project specifications, client requirements, technical standards, and contractual obligations.
- Conduct technical and commercial bid comparisons and prepare recommendation reports.
Commercial Negotiation
- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, warranties, and contractual conditions with suppliers.
- Analyze cost structures and price breakdowns to identify opportunities for cost savings and value engineering.
- Support contract finalization and vendor management activities while ensuring commercial competitiveness and compliance.
Documentation & Reporting
- Prepare procurement reports, bid evaluations, comparison sheets, and supplier assessment records.
- Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation within ERP systems.
- Ensure compliance with company procurement policies, procedures, and audit requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Power and Machines Engineering or a related electrical engineering discipline.
- 5 years of experience in procurement and supply chain management within:
-Electrical Infrastructure Projects
-Substation Projects
-Power Generation/Power Plant Projects
Systems & Software
- Proficiency in ERP systems such as:
- SAP
- Oracle ERP
- Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Excel and reporting tools.
Language Skills
- Fluent in English (written and verbal).
