Experience Level: 5 – 8 Years in Product, consumer apps, behavioral design or lifecycle management

Employment Type: Full-time

About Marzi: Marzi is a digital-first venture under the Primus Group, pioneering a new paradigm for India's urban, afluent, and tech-savvy 50+ population. We reimagine life after 50 by empowering individuals aged 50–70 years to lead purposeful, connected, and fulfilling lives from the comfort of their homes. This stage of life is often marked by transitions — retirement, empty nests, shifting identities. Marzi helps people combat boredom, rediscover relevance, and find renewed purpose.

Role Overview

We are hiring a Lead Product Manager who will be the senior-most product hire at Marzi.

This is a hands-on product leadership role. The person will report directly to the founder and will be accountable for building product experiences that drive Marzi's business outcomes across app, web, events, community, lifecycle, and new 0-1 product verticals.

This is not a role for someone who only manages roadmaps, writes PRDs, coordinates with engineering, or ships features. We are looking for a product builder who can independently identify business problems, deeply understand users, define product solutions, work closely with design and engineering, and drive measurable impact.

The role will be approximately 80% hands-on product building and 20% team leadership The person will manage:

1 UI/UX Designer

1 Associate Product Manager

Functional Skills Required

1. 0-1 Product Building

You should have prior experience building new product experiences from scratch. You should be comfortable with ambiguity, undefined user behavior, imperfect data, evolving business priorities, and fast learning cycles. You should be able to move from:

Problem → user insight → product hypothesis → MVP → launch → measurement → iteration.

2. Consumer Product Experience

You should have strong experience building consumer-facing digital products, preferably in an early-stage or high-growth environment. You should understand user journeys, onboarding, activation, engagement, retention, conversion, and repeat behavior.

3. Engagement and Retention Product Experience

You should have built or meaningfully contributed to products that improved engagement, repeat user, retention, lifecycle movement, or habit formation.

We are especially interested in candidates who have built engagement products from scratch rather than only optimized mature products.

4. Business Metrics Orientation

You must be accountable for business outcomes, not just feature delivery.

You should be comfortable owning and moving metrics such as:

  • Activation
  • Onboarding completion
  • Event discovery to registration
  • Registration to payment
  • First transaction or first event registration
  • Repeat engagement
  • Repeat event participation
  • Lifecycle conversion
  • Retention
  • Product-led revenue or conversion metrics

You should be able to explain what metric was broken, how you diagnosed it, what you changed, and what impact it had.

5. Data-Based Product Thinking

You should be able to define and inspect funnels, cohorts, user segments, drop-offs, and product performance. You should be comfortable working with product analytics tools such as Firebase, Mixpanel, GA, Clevertap, Amplitude, or similar platforms. SQL is good to have, but not mandatory. What is mandatory is the ability to ask the right data questions and use evidence to make better product decisions.

6. Customer Insight and First-Principles Thinking

You should not rely only on prior company experience, templates, or generic product frameworks.

Marzi is building for a user base that requires deep listening and fresh thinking. You must be able to combine data, customer conversations, behavioral observation, and business context to arrive at first-principles product decisions.

7. UX Judgment and Attention to Detail

You should have strong product taste and attention to detail.

You do not need to be a designer, but you should know what makes a journey simple, trustworthy, intuitive, and conversion-friendly.

You should be able to catch gaps in flows, copy, hierarchy, friction, edge cases, and customer communication.

8. Product Writing and Clarity

You should be able to write clear product notes, PRDs, decision documents, user stories, launch notes, and post-launch reviews. Your writing should bring clarity to engineering, design, business, and leadership teams.

9. Engineering and Design Collaboration

You should be able to work closely with engineering and design teams, make trade-offs, prioritize sharply, and ship with speed. You should be able to handle constraints without losing momentum or blaming dependencies.

10. Team Leadership

You will manage a UI/UX designer and an Associate Product Manager.

You should be able to set priorities, review work, coach team members, give clear feedback, hold accountability, and create a strong operating rhythm.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own Marzi's product roadmap across app, web, events, community, lifecycle, and new product experiences.
  • Translate business goals into sharp product problem statements, user journeys, PRDs, experiments, and execution plans.
  • Deeply understand Marzi's 50+ audience through both data and direct customer insight.
  • Identify product-led bottlenecks affecting activation, engagement, event registration, repeat, and lifecycle movement.
  • Define product funnels, dashboards, and success metrics.
  • Work closely with engineering to prioritize, ship, and iterate quickly.
  • Work closely with design to ensure simple, intuitive, premium, and trust-building experiences.
  • Manage and coach the UI/UX designer and Associate Product Manager.
  • Build strong product operating discipline across discovery, prioritization, execution, launch, and post-launch measurement.
  • Partner with growth, events, community, travel, and operations teams to ensure product decisions are connected to business outcomes.
  • Bring first-principles thinking to new product verticals and user journeys.
  • Reduce founder dependency on day-to-day product diagnosis, prioritization, and execution.

Ideal Candidate

  • 6–8+ years of product experience
  • Prior experience in a B2C product environment
  • Experience building consumer app/web experiences
  • Experience with engagement, retention, conversion, or lifecycle products
  • Experience in early-stage, 0-1, or 1-10 product building
  • Strong comfort with product analytics and funnel thinking
  • Prior experience working closely with engineering and design teams
  • Strong written and verbal communication

Good-to-Have

  • Experience in community, social, marketplace, local services, travel, health tech, edtech, fintech, or other consumer internet businesses
  • Experience in online + offline consumer businesses
  • Experience building products for users outside the default young urban internet audience
  • Ex-founder or founding-team experience
  • Experience managing a small product/design team
  • SQL or basic data querying ability
