About the Role
The Senior Project Manager – Aerodrome Delivery will lead the execution of airside infrastructure projects, including runways, taxiways, aprons, and associated aerodrome facilities. This managerial role is responsible for overseeing delivery from design coordination through construction and handover, ensuring alignment with project timelines, budgets, and regulatory standards.
The role will play a critical part in ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient delivery of aerodrome assets in line with airport operational requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead delivery of aerodrome projects including runways, taxiways, aprons, and airfield infrastructure
- Manage full project lifecycle from design coordination to construction, testing, commissioning, and handover
- Coordinate with Design teams to ensure constructability, design alignment, and timely issuance of IFC drawings
- Oversee contractors, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure compliance with scope, quality, schedule, and cost
- Develop and monitor detailed project execution plans, schedules, and resource plans
- Track project progress against milestones and proactively manage delays and recovery plans
- Manage and control project budgets, cost forecasts, and variations
- Lead site activities ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and quality requirements
- Ensure compliance with aviation regulations and standards (ICAO, FAA, GACA, etc.)
- Manage design and construction interfaces across multiple packages and stakeholders
- Review and approve method statements, shop drawings, and technical submittals
- Manage project risks, issues, and change requests, ensuring proper documentation and approvals
- Coordinate closely with airside operations and ORAT teams to ensure operational readiness
- Oversee airfield systems including pavement works, airfield lighting (AGL), drainage, and utilities integration
- Ensure proper testing, commissioning, and validation of aerodrome systems prior to handover
- Resolve technical issues and site challenges in coordination with engineering and design teams
- Lead coordination meetings with contractors, consultants, and internal stakeholders
- Ensure timely permits, approvals, and authority coordination
- Prepare detailed progress reports, dashboards, and executive summaries
- Drive value engineering initiatives and cost optimization strategies
- Ensure proper documentation, record keeping, and project governance compliance
- Support claims management, dispute resolution, and contractual matters
Education
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Experience
- Minimum 6 years of experience in project management within aviation or large-scale infrastructure projects
- Strong experience in aerodrome / airfield delivery (runways, taxiways, aprons)
- Experience managing contractors and site execution on complex projects
- Experience in airport development or expansion projects is highly preferred
- Familiarity with aviation standards (ICAO, FAA, or equivalent)
- Previous experience in a managerial / lead role
