Job Summary .

The Senior Project Manager- Learning Experience on the Telehealth team oversees all aspects of online course development for medical professionals. Responsibilities include prioritizing new courses, coordinating subject-matter experts, and managing course creation, updates, and translations.

REPORTING & WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Senior Project Manager- Learning Experience reports to the Associate Director, Program Technology. Works closely with an in-house team of clinical training specialists and course developers, along with contracted subject-matter experts.

Essential Job Functions / Key Areas Of Responsibility

Course Planning & Governance

  • Lead and maintain a structured intake and prioritization process for new course concepts, working closely with diverse stakeholders to balance donor priorities, Orbis program needs, and the evolving needs of Cybersight learners.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering and alignment on goals across stakeholders.
  • Establish project governance frameworks including documentation standards and QA checkpoints.
  • Establish a systematic audit process with clinical experts and instructional designers to review existing courses and plan updates based on new evidence, evolving techniques, and learner needs.

Project Management

  • Manage end-to-end projects for approximately 5 new online courses per year and for course localization initiatives.
  • Create detailed project schedules, risk logs, and communication plans; mitigate risks and maintain momentum.
  • Coordinate cross-functional contributors including SMEs, content creators, designers, translators, and vendors, including managing contracts and payments.
  • Serve as the central communication point for all course development activities.
  • Manage project budgets and track spending.

Learning Experience & Content Development

  • Partner with instructional designers and clinical experts to shape course objectives and structure.
  • Ensure all learning content meets quality, accessibility, and relevance standards for global LMIC contexts.
  • Support development and/or sourcing of multimedia components (images, illustrations, video, assessments).

Technical Coordination & LMS Integration

  • Coordinate with course developers to test, upload, and configure courses in the LMS.
  • Validate course usability across devices and connectivity conditions.
  • Collaborate on process improvements and relevant platform enhancements.
  • (NOTE: Role requires familiarity with e-learning environments, but does not require deep technical work such as SCORM/xAPI authoring.)

Launch, Evaluation & Continuous Improvement

  • Oversee coordinated launch plans including communications and stakeholder alignment.
  • Monitor early performance, troubleshoot issues, and guide post-launch updates.
  • Use learner analytics and feedback to refine development processes and inform future strategy.

Cross-Team Collaboration & Capacity Building

  • Lead and model best-practice project management approaches for Orbis staff involved in course development, ensuring teams adopt effective workflows and high standards.
  • Contribute to organizational learning around digital education trends and tools.
  • Support hybrid or fully online Orbis training programs as needed.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in project management, instructional design, education technology, public health, or related fields.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing digital content or educational media projects.
  • Experience in online learning, instructional design, or medical/clinical education preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams in a remote setting.
  • Familiarity with LMS platforms and digital course development processes.
  • Project management certification (PMP, PRINCE2, Scrum) desirable.

  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
  • Enthusiasm for technology-enabled learning, global health, and technology for good.
  • Fluency in additional languages is a plus.
  • Ability to travel internationally 12 times per year.
