Job Description

About this role:

Cost Estimation & Budgeting

Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and financial reports for landscaping projects, including softscape, hardscape, irrigation, and drainage systems.

Develop Bill of Quantities (BOQ), material take-offs, and cost breakdowns for tendering and project execution.

Conduct feasibility studies and cost analysis for new and ongoing projects to ensure financial viability.

Monitor and control project expenditures to ensure costs remain within approved budgets.

Tendering & Procurement

Oversee the preparation of tender documents, cost proposals, and contract agreements for landscaping projects.

Evaluate and assess subcontractor and supplier bids, ensuring competitive pricing and adherence to quality standards.

Conduct contract negotiations with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure cost-effective materials and services.

Ensure compliance with procurement policies, supplier contracts, and market price fluctuations.

Contract Administration & Management

Review, draft, and administer contracts, variations, and claims related to landscaping projects.

Ensure that all contracts adhere to legal, financial, and regulatory requirements.

Handle dispute resolution, contract claims, and change orders to safeguard project interests.

Coordinate with legal teams to ensure proper documentation and compliance in contract management.

Cost Control & Value Engineering

Conduct cost-benefit analysis and implement value engineering techniques to optimize project expenditures.

Identify cost-saving opportunities in materials, labor, and equipment procurement without compromising quality.

Monitor financial performance metrics, including project profit margins, budget variances, and expenditure reports.

Develop strategies for cost reduction and efficiency improvement across multiple projects.

Site Visits & Progress Monitoring

Conduct regular site visits to assess work progress, validate cost reports, and ensure financial accuracy.

Verify material deliveries, subcontractor work, and cost-related project milestones.

Work closely with project managers to track budget adherence and forecast financial adjustments.

Ensure cost implications of delays, design changes, and unforeseen project conditions are properly accounted for.

Claims & Dispute Resolution

Prepare and evaluate claims for variations, additional works, and unforeseen costs.

Assess and document delays, disruptions, and contract breaches for claim submission.

Negotiate and resolve financial disputes with clients, subcontractors, and vendors.

Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and legal frameworks in managing claims.

Financial Reporting & Documentation

Prepare and submit financial reports, cost analysis, and cash flow projections to senior management.

Maintain detailed records of contracts, BOQs, project costs, and payment schedules.

Ensure all project-related financial documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and audit-ready.

Provide management with monthly cost reports, risk assessments, and budgetary recommendations.

Collaboration & Communication

Liaise with project managers, engineers, procurement teams, and finance departments to ensure seamless project execution.

Provide financial guidance and recommendations to senior management on cost-related decisions.

Ensure transparent communication with clients, consultants, and subcontractors regarding financial matters.

Information Security responsibilities:

  • Restrict use to authorized purposes, Protect access accounts, privileges and associated passwords.
  • Accept accountability of his/her individual user accounts, and maintain confidentiality

Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Master's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or Project Management (preferred but not mandatory).

7–10 years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Cost Estimation, and Contract Administration, preferably in landscaping, infrastructure, or construction projects.

Extensive experience in managing softscape, hardscape, irrigation, and drainage systems within landscaping projects.

Expertise in preparing Bill of Quantities (BOQ), cost estimates, tender documents, and budget plans for landscaping projects.

Strong understanding of softscape, hardscape, irrigation, drainage systems, and soil composition.

Proficiency in managing FIDIC, NEC, and other standard construction contracts,

including handling variations, claims, and legal compliance.

Ability to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising project quality and sustainability.

Expertise in evaluating and negotiating subcontractor and supplier contracts, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality compliance.

Ability to monitor project expenditures, forecast cost variations, and implement risk mitigation strategies.

Experience in preparing cash flow forecasts, financial statements, and project cost reports for senior management.

Strong ability to ensure landscaping projects are delivered within budget while maintaining quality standards.

Ability to visit project sites, validate expenses, and track material/labor usage to prevent cost overruns.

Skilled in contract negotiations, handling claims, and resolving financial disputes with clients and subcontractors.

Knowledge of LEED, Estidama, and green landscaping initiatives for cost-efficient and environmentally friendly projects.

Ability to interpret landscape design drawings and project specifications.

Proficiency in preparing financial reports, BOQs, and cost breakdowns.

Experience with Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or similar tools for project tracking.

Proficiency in CostX, Candy CCS, PlanSwift, or other industry-standard cost management tools.

Ability to analyze cost trends, identify risks, and implement cost-control measures.

Strong ability to negotiate contracts, resolve disputes, and liaise with clients, contractors, and stakeholders.

Ensuring accuracy in cost calculations, contract evaluations, and financial reporting.

Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously while meeting strict deadlines.

Experience in leading junior quantity surveyors, cost control teams, and cross-functional coordination.

Capability to provide cost-effective solutions and financial recommendations to management.
