Senior Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical)

We are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical) to support the commercial and quantity surveying functions on large-scale Oil & Gas EPC projects. This role is ideal for a seasoned professional with extensive mechanical and piping QS expertise, strong commercial acumen, and a proven track record working on major process plant, refinery, gas processing, or petrochemical developments.

As a key member of the project commercial team, you will be responsible for managing mechanical quantity surveying activities, administering subcontract commercial matters, evaluating variations and claims, and providing accurate forecasting and commercial reporting throughout the project lifecycle.

YOUR ROLE

As Senior Quantity Surveyor (Mechanical), you will

Quantity Surveying & Measurement

  • Measure, verify, and reconcile mechanical quantities against IFC drawings, MTOs, BOQs, approved variations, and actual installed works.
  • Administer piping measurements including diameter-inch/weld-inch calculations where applicable.
  • Quantify and manage piping supports, valves, specialties, equipment, skids/packages, tanks, and associated mechanical works.
  • Maintain accurate quantity tracking systems and records throughout project execution.

Commercial Administration

  • Monitor and commercially track fabrication, erection, welding, NDT, hydrotesting, reinstatement, insulation, painting, and mechanical completion activities.
  • Prepare, evaluate, and negotiate variation orders, change requests, dayworks, resource additions, rework, and disruption-related impacts.
  • Assess subcontractor interim valuations, claims, variations, back-charges, and final accounts.
  • Support cost reporting, recovery analysis, and earned value measurement.

Claims & Contract Support

  • Develop and maintain contemporaneous records to support extension of time and commercial claims.
  • Analyze project impacts arising from engineering changes, material delays, restricted access, resequencing, acceleration, and additional shift working.
  • Assist in preparing robust claim submissions supported by factual records and commercial assessments.

Forecasting & Reporting

  • Prepare ETC (Estimate to Complete) quantities and cost forecasts through project completion.
  • Identify quantity growth, cost deviations, and commercial risks early.
  • Provide management with accurate forecasts, commercial analysis, and recovery opportunities.

Stakeholder Coordination

  • Work closely with Construction, Planning, Engineering, QA/QC, Material Control, Procurement, and Commissioning teams to ensure accurate measurement and commercial reporting.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Experience

  • Must have 15+ years of Quantity Surveying / Commercial experience within Oil & Gas EPC construction projects
  • Demonstrated experience working on the contractor or subcontractor side of major refinery, petrochemical, gas
  • processing, or process plant projects.
  • ADNOC project experience is highly preferred.
  • Experience on remote, offshore, island, or challenging GCC construction environments will be a distinct advantage.

Education and Certifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying, Engineering, Commercial Management, or related discipline

Skills and Competencies

  • Strong specialization in Mechanical & Piping Quantity Surveying, including: Carbon Steel (CS), Stainless Steel (SS), and Alloy Piping, Welding and NDT activities, Pipe supports and mechanical equipment installation, Hydrotesting and system reinstatement.
  • Strong expertise in: Quantity measurement and valuation, Rate build-up and pricing, Variation and change order management, Subcontract administration, Claims preparation and assessment, Final account settlement.
  • Ability to analyze productivity using planned, earned, and actual man-hours, with a clear understanding of the distinction between inefficiency and compensable disruption.
  • Excellent commercial awareness, analytical skills, and stakeholder management abilities.
