Role Description
A Senior Radiographer provides advanced diagnostic imaging services while ensuring high standards of patient care, radiation safety, and image quality. The role performs and oversees radiographic examinations, supports clinical teams, and assists with the supervision and development of radiography staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform and oversee diagnostic imaging examinations using appropriate radiographic equipment.
- Ensure high-quality diagnostic images are produced according to clinical requirements.
- Prepare patients for examinations, explain procedures, and provide appropriate care and support.
- Operate imaging equipment safely and effectively while following established protocols.
- Apply radiation protection and safety procedures for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Review images for technical quality and repeat examinations when clinically or technically necessary.
- Maintain accurate patient records, examination documentation, and imaging reports.
- Support radiography staff through training, supervision, mentoring, and technical guidance.
- Coordinate with radiologists, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding imaging requirements.
- Support quality assurance, equipment maintenance, clinical audits, and continuous improvement activities.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or recognized qualification in Radiography, Medical Imaging, or a related field.
- Valid professional registration or licensing required to practice as a Radiographer.
- Significant clinical experience in diagnostic radiography or medical imaging.
- Strong knowledge of radiographic techniques, imaging equipment, radiation protection, and patient safety.
- Experience with PACS, RIS, digital imaging systems, and relevant clinical technology.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and clinical skills.
- Ability to supervise staff, manage clinical priorities, and work effectively in a multidisciplinary environment.
- Professional, compassionate, safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and patient-focused approach.
