Job Description
Finera is seeking a Senior Reconciliation Officer to join the Finance team in Dubai. This role will oversee reconciliation activities across payment gateways, processors, and internal financial records to ensure financial accuracy, operational integrity, and settlement transparency. The position plays a critical role in maintaining financial controls across merchant transactions, settlement flows, and processor statements. The successful candidate will work closely with Finance, BI, Treasury, and Operations teams to strengthen reconciliation frameworks and drive automation initiatives across transaction data environments.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
- 4-5 years of experience in reconciliation, payments operations, or financial operations.
- Experience working within fintech, payment acquiring, payment gateways, or digital asset environments.
Technical Skills- Advanced Excel / data reconciliation skills.
- Experience working with processor transaction reports and gateway data.
- Familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., Xero, Netsuite and Similar).
- Exposure to data visualisation tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker Studio) is advantageous.

Nice to Have- Experience with cryptocurrency transaction reconciliation or digital asset operations.

- Experience with API-based reconciliation automation or data warehouse environments.
Job Responsibilities
Transaction & Settlement Reconciliation- Perform daily reconciliation of payment transactions across multiple data sources, including payment gateways, processor transaction reports, and internal accounting systems.
- Conduct 3-way reconciliations between:
- Payment gateway transaction data
- Processor transaction and settlement reports
- Internal financial ledger / accounting system
- Ensure transaction volumes, statuses, and settlement values match across all systems.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies relating to:
- successful and declined transactions
- refunds and reversals
- chargebacks and representments
- settlement adjustments and processor fees
Processor Statement Reconciliations- Review and reconcile processor statements against transaction-level data to validate:
- Merchant Discount Rates (MDR)
- settlement fees
- crypto or FX conversion fees (where applicable)
- refund processing fees
- declined transaction fees
- chargeback handling fees
- rolling reserves
- Validate settlement calculations and confirm accurate net settlement amounts received from processors.
- Identify and report unexpected processor charges or fee deviations from contractual agreements.
- Monitor T+N settlement cycles (e.g., T+1 / T+3 etc.structures) and identify settlement delays or mismatches.
Financial Controls & Exception Management- Investigate reconciliation breaks and ensure timely resolution of financial discrepancies.
- Maintain reconciliation documentation and audit trails for all settlement and processor activities.
- Escalate material discrepancies or settlement risks to Finance leadership.
- Support audit processes and regulatory reporting requirements relating to transaction data and settlements
Data Analysis & Reporting- Produce daily and monthly reconciliation reports, highlighting discrepancies and financial exposure, expected costs and effective costs.
- Develop exception reporting frameworks for reconciliation breaks.
- Work with BI teams to enhance automated reconciliation dashboards (e.g., Tableau,Looker Studio, Claude).
- Analyse transaction and settlement data to identify trends, operational inefficiencies, or financial risks.
Process Improvement & Automation- Identify opportunities to improve reconciliation workflows and financial controls.
- Support the design of automated reconciliation processes
- Assist with implementation of reconciliation tools or BI dashboards to streamline financial monitoring.
Cross-Team Collaboration- Liaise with payment processors, banking partners, and merchants to resolve settlement-related issues.
- Collaborate with Finance, Treasury, Operations, and BI teams to ensure reconciliation completeness.
- Assist in onboarding new processors or payment partners by defining reconciliation and reporting requirements.
- Support the Head of Reconciliation in the day-to-day management of the reconciliation function, including oversight of team workloads, guidance to reconciliation officers, and ensuring operational reconciliation processes are executed efficiently and in line with internal control standards.
