The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Senior Safety Officer to monitor and enforce workplace safety standards, conduct inspections and risk assessments, support incident prevention and investigation, coordinate safety training, and ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements.
The ideal candidate will provide practical day-to-day safety oversight, identify unsafe conditions and behaviors, recommend corrective actions, support operational teams, and promote a strong safety culture across workplaces, projects, facilities, and field activities.
Key Responsibilities- Implement and monitor company health and safety policies, procedures, standards, and site-specific requirements.
- Conduct routine workplace, site, facility, and operational safety inspections.
- Identify unsafe conditions, unsafe behaviors, hazards, and potential sources of injury.
- Recommend immediate controls for serious or imminent safety risks.
- Monitor compliance with approved safety procedures, work instructions, and safe operating practices.
- Conduct formal and informal safety observations across operational activities.
- Follow up on identified hazards and verify that corrective actions are implemented effectively.
- Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, observations, findings, and corrective actions.
- Conduct workplace risk assessments and participate in job hazard analyses.
- Review task-specific risk assessments, method statements, safe work procedures, and job safety analyses.
- Monitor high-risk activities and ensure appropriate control measures are implemented.
- Provide safety oversight for work at height, hot work, confined spaces, lifting operations, excavation, electrical work, machinery operation, and other hazardous activities where applicable.
- Monitor permit-to-work systems and verify that required permits and controls are in place before work begins.
- Verify that employees and contractors use appropriate personal protective equipment.
- Conduct PPE inspections and identify gaps in availability, suitability, condition, and usage.
- Monitor workplace housekeeping, access routes, storage areas, emergency exits, and general site conditions.
- Inspect safety equipment, emergency equipment, first-aid facilities, fire protection systems, and related controls.
- Support emergency preparedness and response activities.
- Participate in fire drills, evacuation exercises, emergency simulations, and other safety exercises.
- Ensure emergency routes, assembly points, emergency contacts, and response procedures remain clearly communicated.
- Respond to workplace incidents, accidents, near misses, unsafe acts, and safety emergencies.
- Conduct preliminary incident investigations and secure relevant information and evidence.
- Support detailed investigations into accidents, injuries, property damage, near misses, and dangerous occurrences.
- Participate in root-cause analysis and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Track incident investigations and corrective actions through closure.
- Monitor recurring incidents and identify patterns requiring additional controls.
- Ensure lessons learned from incidents are communicated to relevant employees and operational teams.
- Maintain accurate incident, injury, near-miss, inspection, and corrective-action records.
- Conduct safety inductions for new employees, contractors, visitors, and temporary workers where required.
- Deliver toolbox talks, safety briefings, awareness sessions, and refresher training.
- Develop practical safety communication materials covering hazards, controls, procedures, and lessons learned.
- Monitor employee understanding and compliance with safety requirements.
- Provide coaching and guidance to employees and supervisors on safe work practices.
- Stop or escalate unsafe work when established safety requirements are not being followed.
- Work closely with supervisors and operational managers to resolve safety issues promptly.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Facilities, Maintenance, Operations, Security, and HR teams on safety matters.
- Monitor contractor activities and verify compliance with company safety requirements.
- Conduct contractor safety inspections and observations.
- Support contractor onboarding, safety orientations, and performance reviews.
- Review contractor safety documentation, risk assessments, method statements, and permits where applicable.
- Monitor compliance with applicable occupational health, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Support internal and external safety audits and regulatory inspections.
- Assist with preparation for authority inspections and certification assessments.
- Track regulatory and audit findings and monitor corrective-action completion.
- Maintain safety registers, inspection schedules, training records, permits, risk assessments, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare periodic safety reports covering inspections, incidents, observations, training, corrective actions, and key risks.
- Monitor safety performance indicators and identify areas requiring management attention.
- Participate in safety committee meetings and operational safety reviews.
- Support safety campaigns, awareness programs, and continuous-improvement initiatives.
- Promote near-miss reporting, hazard reporting, and employee participation in safety activities.
- Identify opportunities to improve workplace safety procedures, controls, and communication.
- Evaluate changes to equipment, processes, work areas, and operating conditions from a safety perspective.
- Ensure safety requirements are considered during operational changes, maintenance activities, projects, and new equipment installations.
- Maintain professional relationships with employees, contractors, supervisors, managers, consultants, regulators, and external safety providers.

The successful candidate should have strong experience in workplace safety, occupational health and safety, HSE, EHS, industrial safety, construction safety, facilities safety, or operational safety, preferably within a complex commercial, industrial, construction, engineering, logistics, manufacturing, or service environment.
The candidate should demonstrate:
