About the Role:
We are looking for a highly skilled
Senior Software Engineer to build and scale robust backend systems that power technology products used by millions of students, teachers, and government stakeholders across India.
This is a hands-on engineering role for someone who enjoys solving complex technical problems, writing high-quality production code, and designing systems that are reliable, scalable, and maintainable. You will work closely with the founders, product managers, AI/ML engineers, and the broader engineering team to deliver mission-critical features and improve the performance of large-scale education platforms.
Beyond implementation, you will be expected to take ownership of system architecture, technical decision-making, production reliability, and engineering best practices. You will mentor junior engineers, conduct code reviews, and help establish a culture of technical excellence while remaining an active contributor to the codebase.

Roles And Responsibilities
- Develop, enhance, and maintain scalable backend systems, APIs, microservices, and data pipelines.
- Write clean, efficient, well-documented, and thoroughly tested production-quality code.
- Design and implement scalable system architectures capable of supporting high-traffic education platforms.
- Build and optimize APIs, databases, caching mechanisms, message queues, background processing, and cloud-based deployment workflows.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve performance bottlenecks during large-scale assessment cycles with high concurrent user traffic.
- Drive technical decisions that improve system reliability, scalability, performance, cost efficiency, and maintainability.
- Diagnose and resolve complex production issues across application code, databases, infrastructure, and third-party integrations.
- Continuously improve engineering practices by enhancing code quality, testing, observability, logging, monitoring, and deployment processes.
- Conduct code reviews, provide constructive feedback, and promote engineering best practices across the team.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Partner with AI/ML engineers to seamlessly integrate machine learning models into production applications.
- Mentor and support junior engineers through technical guidance, knowledge sharing, and code reviews.
- Take end-to-end ownership of critical features and systems—from architecture and development to deployment, monitoring, and ongoing optimization.
Qualifications & Skills
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
- 5–9 years of hands-on experience in software development with a strong focus on backend engineering.
- Strong proficiency in one or more backend technologies such as Python, Django, FastAPI, Node.js, Java, Go, or equivalent frameworks.
- Excellent understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, clean code principles, and debugging techniques.
- Strong knowledge of system design, distributed systems, API architecture, and scalable application development.
- Experience working with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar.
- Hands-on experience with caching mechanisms, asynchronous processing, background jobs, message queues, and distributed workflows.
- Proven experience designing, developing, and maintaining secure RESTful APIs.
- Good understanding of authentication, authorization, application security, rate limiting, and data privacy best practices.
- Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), or Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with Docker, containerization, and modern deployment pipelines.
- Ability to write automated tests and contribute to reliable CI/CD and release processes.
- Demonstrated experience delivering production-grade software used by real-world users at scale.
- Experience with technologies such as FastAPI, Django, Redis, Kafka, Celery, MongoDB, or similar tools.
- Experience integrating backend systems with React Native or Android applications.
- Proven ability to design and scale systems handling high concurrency and large user volumes.
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools, including logging, metrics, tracing, dashboards, and alerting.
- Hands-on experience with AWS services such as ECS, EKS, S3, CloudFront, Lambda, ALB, or RDS.
- Exposure to integrating AI/ML models into production applications.
- Prior experience working in EdTech, GovTech, HealthTech, or other large-scale consumer technology platforms.
- Understanding of building applications for low-bandwidth, low-resource, Bharat-first environments.
- Proficiency in Hindi and/or Marathi will be an added advantage.
