We're looking for a Software Engineer / Systems & Algorithmic Engineer to join our small, collaborative R&D team and work on real-time, high-volume systems, mathematical models, optimisation, cloud technologies, and AI-driven engineering.

This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy algorithms, mathematical problems, pricing, optimisation, and high-performance/low-latency systems rather than traditional web development.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop mathematical and algorithmic models in Java.
• Build and optimise pricing, forecasting, matching, valuation, and decision-making systems.
• Work with feedback loops, constrained optimisation, dynamic pricing and real-time systems.
• Develop scalable, reliable, high-performance software.
• Optimise latency, throughput, QPS and resource utilisation.
• Apply TDD, Agile/Scrum and Continuous Delivery.
• Deploy and support cloud-based services across global environments.
• Take ownership of projects from design through to production.
• Collaborate with engineers and contribute to improving engineering standards.

What We're Looking For

• Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Applied Science, or related field.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 17.
• Strong knowledge of algorithms, data structures, mathematical modelling or optimisation.
• Experience with at least 3 of:
• Spring Boot, MySQL, Hibernate, Python, Groovy, Git, Linux/Unix, AWS.
• Professional experience with TDD.
• Good understanding of HTTP and connection pooling.
• Experience with high-performance, scalable, real-time or low-latency systems is a strong plus.
• Excellent problem-solving, troubleshooting and performance-optimisation skills.
• Strong English communication skills.

Algorithmic Experience

We're particularly interested in experience with:

• Mathematical modelling & algorithms
• Dynamic pricing & valuation
• Constrained optimisation
• Auctions / bid valuation
• Forecasting & matching algorithms
• Feedback loops / PID / control systems
• Real-time decision engines
• Low-latency & high-throughput systems
• Distributed or event-driven architectures

Relevant Industries

Experience in AdTech/RTB, FinTech/HFT, Logistics, Industrial Automation or Game Backend Development is highly relevant.

Tech Stack

Java 17 · Spring Boot · Hibernate · MySQL · TDD · Git · Linux/Unix · AWS

Python, Groovy, HTTP, performance profiling and AI-assisted development experience are also valuable.
