To maintain competitive advantage as we grow, we are currently looking for a Senior Specialist - Cloud Computing (AWS & CloudOps)

Job purpose:

The Senior Specialist is responsible for the technical design, implementation, administration, and optimization of enterprise infrastructure systems across hybrid cloud and on-premises environments. This role requires deep technical expertise in cloud platforms, virtualization, clustering technologies, Linux administration, and automation. The System Lead will act as the primary technical authority for system infrastructure, ensuring reliability, performance, and security of critical systems.

Key accountabilities:

Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure

  • Design, implement, and maintain hybrid cloud environments using AWS and AWS Outposts.
  • Administer AWS compute, storage, networking, and hybrid integrations with on‑premises infrastructure.
  • Apply AWS best practices to optimize performance, cost efficiency, scalability, and availability.

Nutanix Platform Administration

  • Configure, administer, and support Nutanix HCI clusters.
  • Perform cluster upgrades, lifecycle operations, and capacity planning.
  • Monitor cluster performance, storage policies, and resource utilization across the environment.
  • Diagnose and resolve issues related to the Nutanix AHV hypervisor and virtual machine performance.

Windows Infrastructure & Active Directory

  • Manage and maintain enterprise Active Directory environments, including:
  • Domain controllers
  • Group Policy creation, management, and troubleshooting
  • AD replication and site topology configuration
  • DNS and authentication services
  • Implement identity and access management controls.
  • Enforce domain-level security hardening and auditing procedures.

Clustering & High Availability

  • Deploy and administer Microsoft Cluster Service (MSCS) failover clustering environments.
  • Configure and support high‑availability clusters for mission‑critical workloads.
  • Conduct cluster failover testing and troubleshoot cluster‑level issues.
  • Design high‑availability architectures for enterprise applications.

Linux Administration

  • Administer Linux environments running Ubuntu and RHEL distributions.
  • Perform system tuning, security hardening, and patch management.
  • Configure core system services, networking, storage, and package management.
  • Troubleshoot kernel, filesystem, and other OS‑level issues.

Automation & Scripting

  • Develop automation scripts using Shell scripting to streamline system operations.
  • Automate server provisioning, monitoring, patching, and routine infrastructure tasks.
  • Integrate custom scripts with monitoring platforms and scheduled job frameworks.

Monitoring & Performance Optimization

  • Monitor system health, infrastructure availability, and performance metrics.
  • Perform capacity planning and optimize resource allocation.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis (RCA) for incidents, performance degradation, and outages.

Security & Compliance

  • Implement system‑level security hardening and patch management processes.
  • Maintain secure configuration baselines for both Linux and Windows systems.
  • Ensure compliance with internal IT policies and security standards.

Incident & Problem Management

  • Provide L2/L3 technical support for complex infrastructure issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system failures across cloud and on‑premises environments.
  • Lead incident response, recovery actions, and post‑incident reviews.

Documentation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Create and maintain detailed documentation for infrastructure designs, procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
  • Offer technical guidance, knowledge transfer, and mentorship to team members and junior engineers.

Qualifications:

Cloud & AWS

  • Strong hands‑on experience working with AWS Cloud services.
  • Practical experience managing AWS Outposts within hybrid cloud environments.
  • Solid understanding of cloud computing concepts, including networking, compute, and storage services.

Virtualization & Hyper-Converged Infrastructure (HCI)

  • Extensive experience with Nutanix infrastructure administration.
  • Proficient in managing AHV hypervisor environments.
  • Skilled in Nutanix cluster lifecycle management, including upgrades and capacity planning.

Windows Infrastructure

  • In‑depth experience managing Active Directory environments.
  • Strong knowledge of Group Policy creation, administration, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands‑on experience with AD replication, DNS, and authentication services.
  • Proficient in Windows Server administration and maintenance.

Clustering & High Availability

  • Hands‑on experience deploying and managing MSCS failover clustering.
  • Skilled in cluster configuration, health checks, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of disaster recovery strategies and high-availability design principles.

Linux Systems

  • Advanced administration skills across Ubuntu and RHEL environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting capabilities and performance tuning expertise.
  • Experience configuring filesystems, networking, and security controls within Linux environments.

Automation

  • Strong proficiency in Shell scripting with the ability to automate system operations.
  • Experience building scripts to support provisioning, monitoring, patching, and other routine tasks.

Preferred Skills

  • AWS Certifications (e.g., Solutions Architect, SysOps Administrator).
  • Experience working with infrastructure and system monitoring tools.
  • Familiarity with enterprise backup and disaster recovery solutions.
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation tools and frameworks.

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in system administration or infrastructure engineering roles.
  • Proven background supporting and maintaining enterprise‑grade production environments.
