Job Purpose
- The Senior Database Administrator will be involved in working with and managing du databases infrastructure, this to include database design, monitoring, applying security, performance tuning, backup, and recovery architecture and implementation.
- The Senior Database Administrator will be working with multiple teams (platform design, certification, development, and operations) and be expected to establish and promote global database standards, policies, and procedures.
Job Responsibilities
Functional/Technical Responsibilities
- Support IT Infrastructure staff, developers, and other systems analysts in developing efficient database designs and provide the necessary support.
- Implement MS SQL & Oracle changes via the Company Change Management process.
- Ensure the installation and maintenance of the databases running on production and development systems with optimal storage space.
- Ensure on-going maintenance of all databases including performance, tuning, and capacity planning.
- Troubleshooting day to day database related problems.
- Work closely with the du IT Infrastructure and development teams, external suppliers and vendors.
- Administering Database backup-recovery, replication, schemas, user and security procedures.
- Implements and maintains database administration security as per company policies and procedures.
- Database monitoring and management via third party tools and other associated tools configuration
- Provide advice and recommendations around hardware refreshes/data center enhancements relevant to MS SQL & Oracle.
- Maintains and reviews database performance continuously in order to identify opportunities for enhancements or upgrades.

- Follow all relevant functional policies, processes, standard operating procedures, and instructions to ensure that work is carried out in a controlled and consistent manner.
- Assist in the preparation of accurate and timely functional MIS statements and reports to meet corporate and functional requirements, policies, and standards.

- Apply safety, quality and environmental management policies, procedures, and controls to ensure employee safety, legislative compliance, delivery of high-quality products/service and a responsible environmental attitude.
Continuous Improvement
- Contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of department's systems, processes and practices considering international best practice, improvement of business processes, cost reduction and productivity improvement.
Job Requirements - Qualification and Experience:
- Bachelors in Computer Science or Engineering.
- Oracle international certifications and relevant qualifications is preferred.
- 4 Years of Experience.
- ITIL and Project Management certification will be an advantage.
- Strong Database Administration experience on multiple platforms (Solaris / Linux / Windows/ etc.).
- Solid experience in utilizing data modelling tools and creating logical and physical data models.
- Strong experience in Database performance tuning, strong Database administration, Shell scripting .
- Fully capable of working with a variety of database and information technology systems topics.
- Solid experience with Database monitoring, testing, performance, and management.
- Strong problem solving and innovative solutions design and database management.
- Detailed knowledge of implementing backup and recovery solutions, including DR
- At least 4 years of Oracle Database Administration.
