Senior Specialist Virtual Assets Intelligence

The Central Bank of the UAE (CBUAE) is the supervisory and regulatory authority of the banking and insurance sector in the United Arab Emirates. CBUAE is responsible for enhancing monetary management, financial stability and protecting consumers through effective supervision of licensed financial institutions, prudent management of reserves, robust financial infrastructure and the adoption of digital technologies.

CBUAE is currently looking to hire a seasoned and highly motivated professional in Financial Intelligence Unit, who would be responsible to act as the FIU's subject-matter lead for virtual asset intelligence and investigation, support strategic projects, and mentor virtual assets analytic team. He/ she will provide technical expertise to strengthen the FIU's ability to trace and investigate illicit virtual asset flows.

Core Responsibilities

Advanced Investigation & Forensic Analysis

• Lead complex investigations of suspicious activity related to virtual assets (cryptocurrencies, NFTs, DeFi, etc.).
• Conduct high-level blockchain analytics using advanced tools and methodologies.
• Conduct outreach to FIUs stakeholders in both the public and private sectors.
• Assess reporting quality and identify potential gaps in VASP reporting obligations.

Analytical Development

• Identify critical risks and emerging virtual asset trends.
• Draft technical intelligence reports with actionable recommendations for law enforcement, regulators, and international partners.
• Guidance and Policy Input
• Advise Senior Manager and Director on technical issues, investigative obstacles, and policy enhancements.
• Contribute to updates of SOPs, knowledge bases, and typology/case studies for the section.
• Perform any other duties outside the scope as and when required.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's in Economics, Finance, Law, or a related field. Technical certifications (CAMS, blockchain analysis/cybersecurity) are preferred.
• Minimum of 4+ years experience in financial intelligence, AML/CFT, or virtual asset investigations.
• Demonstrable expertise in blockchain forensics and typology-based investigation.
