Job Summary:
The Senior Structural Designer is responsible for leading the structural design, detailing, and coordination of precast and cast-in-place concrete works. The role ensures that all designs comply with applicable codes, project specifications, constructability requirements, and cost efficiency while supporting project delivery from concept through construction.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the structural design and detailing of precast and reinforced concrete elements (columns, beams, slabs, walls, staircases, façade panels, foundations, etc.).
• Prepare and review structural calculations, design reports, and shop drawings.
• Develop precast connection details, lifting points, and erection methodologies.
• Ensure compliance with international and local design codes (ACI, Eurocode, BS, ECP, PCI, etc.).
• Coordinate with architectural, MEP, production, and site teams to resolve design conflicts.
• Review and approve shop drawings, bar bending schedules, and fabrication drawings.
• Provide technical support during manufacturing, erection, and site execution.
• Conduct value engineering to optimize material usage, cost, and constructability.
• Supervise and mentor junior designers and detailers.
• Participate in technical meetings with clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Respond to RFIs and manage design changes and revisions.
• Ensure designs meet safety, durability, and quality standards.
Software & Tools:
• Structural analysis software (ETABS, SAFE, SAP2000, STAAD, or similar)
• Precast detailing tools (Tekla Structures – mandatory/preferred)
• AutoCAD
• MS Excel for design calculations
• BIM coordination tools (Navisworks – advantage)
Qualifications & Experience:
• Bachelor's degree in Civil / Structural Engineering
• 3–10 years of experience in structural design, with strong exposure to precast concrete projects
• Proven experience in industrial, commercial, residential, or infrastructure projects
• Strong understanding of precast production and erection processes
• Ability to lead design packages independently
